last season i picked up from lesco a 26" core aerator. i have been useing a toro lawn aer (about 15 years old )needed to up grade so i got the lesco last season.
like to get that classen split reel . got a price for the 25" classen split for $2810+tax.

heres my question
instead of spending 2810 for the classen
do you guys think its worth it to spend the extra and get the RYAN LAWNAIRE 28 CORE AERATOR.
FOR THOSE WHO RAN THE MECHINE IS IT THAT FAST,EASY TO USE.
or do you think its not worth the extra money?

I have run LA28's for about 4 years. The are GREAT! Turning while aerating, fast, quiet, lots of cores, will go through anything (I pulled a 2" core straight out of a tree root by accident).
If you took away my LA28, I would probably die!

Hills are a bit of a problem, but I have found no more than an La4. Takes a bit of practice and thinking.
Wet areas I have not done (Are you aerating swamps?). I have done areas that have been a bit soggy, and that makes a mess as per any other aerator. The tines didn't plug up though, but my shoes did!
Never got it stuck (It's an aerator, not a 4x4!!!). Due to its weight and tricycle design, it does not travel very well over gravel (Loose washed rock type, shales are better). I always take the LA4 along just in case I cannot get the 28 in. I also have a set of ramps with me for going up steps, retaining walls, etc.
My application is home lawns and small commercial. It takes about 10 minutes to do an average lawn here (about 2500sqft), charging $60.00 min.

Hope this helps.

Anthony, Did you ever concider a tow behind aerator? Those walk behinds will wear you out(exceptLA28). I got a Lesco 42" last month. Its great!

bob: i own a "bannerman"48"tow behind {looks like the classen, lesco unit) and it works well. i could use another walk behind .i am just toosing around if its worth it to spend the extra money on a lawnair 28 ,verses the classen 25 split reel.
