Got my Magnamatic 9000 the other day. My balancer is on back order but I couldn't resist trying this thing out. I took some of my old dull blades that I use to sharpen with a hand grinder and went to work. All I can say is WOW!!!! I should of had one of these things a long time ago.

The only problem with the balancer is it's too good:p. Once you start using the balancer you'll find that just one small sweep down the blade is enough to change the balance. I've very happy with my balancer and you can tell when you have the blades right. I'm running doubles on my 54" with the motor really humming and you don't know they're engaged.
You can lose 50 rpm on the motor if the blades aren't in balance.
Good luck,
Pete

I have found the 8000 to be an excellent tool.
With practice you should be able to balance w/little effort.

I'd love to buy one but that's a lot of dough. I can hold off until I come across a used one

I bought it off the Magnamatic web site. Free shipping is a great deal considering the total package is about 100 lbs.

I second that lazer. I used my 9000 sharpener for the first time this weekend -- Great job! Had six blades sharpened in less than 10 minutes! :D
I too, am waiting for my balancer. I hope it comes soon.
Only problem is I have to remove the blades to clean my deck -- since they are so sharp now
I also found Magna-Matic an excellent company to deal with -- well above average. What other company do you know that puts their 800 phone number on all their products and says "call if you have any questions"!
