well I was at the intro of the new mower from hustler
it is a 23hp kawasaki 60" z mower
pretty awesome machine
lowest center of gravity, shortest 60" commercial z mower on the market, it has a built in brake system for the rear wheels when you put your steering levers in neutral and push them out to the side it engages a rear drum brake on each wheel, pretty neat feature.
awesome seat (real comfortable)
12 gallons of fuel capacity
we cut 2 different days with this unit, wet and dry tall grass and the cut was awesome.
unit is the best machine I have used on hills also.
here are some pics of this unit in action.

yeah it has been a long time coming, for hustler to build this type of unit, but it was worth the wait, this unit is awesome.
get to a dealer and ask them when you can see it.
you will be impressed.

It definitely looks durable with the thicknesses of everything. Nice deep deck too. Is that a wheelie bar I see in back?

My only question is how hard would it be to do maintence work on that machine????Looks pretty tight!!!!I do think that this is one of the first machines from hustler that does not look weird! Not to say that those weird looking machines are no good.....they do look weird though!

That has to be a wheelie bar back there.:)

Looks like a yellow exmark deck with the way the scalp rollers are placed.

yes, there is two anti-tip over wheels in the back of the unit, but we never had the machines front wheels off the ground.
the production units are going to be a couple inches shorter in length, newer style muffler from kawasaki and a shorter rear bumper.
as far as maintenance goes, the engine drain plug hangs over the back engine frame, no hose or special tubes needed.
and the air filter is accessible from the top of the machine.
only 2 belts on that unit and would take less than a minute to change each one.
the deck on this unit is the same design as the decks on the hydro walk behinds (toughest deck out there, go look at one), also the same deck as the 60" shortcut.
I think they have a real winner with this unit.
Looks like a yellow Exmark Lazer.... Looks like a good machine..

How fast is it? Any other engine options...like maybe a 26EFI Kohler?
10-07-2000, 08:43 AM
yeah, they look like chrome rims but they are not. the paint process that the rim maker uses gives it a real high gloss finish.
speed is comparible with a exmark unit.
at this current time they are not planning any engine options, they just want to get this unit to market, but you never know what the future holds.

found out today, that this unit will be introduced to all landscape pro's and contractors at the gie in indy next month.
An idiot proof braking system! Thats great.

Did Hustler have a SRP yet? BTW, I own a Hustler Hydro W/B that I bought in August. I love the machine and so do my clients. The folks at Hustler Corporation are top shelf too.

msrp is going to be about 8100.00
what your dealers will sell it to you for may vary.
call them and find out.
Does this come with a some deck options or is it only a 60" deck?
10-12-2000, 08:56 AM
current plans are only to build a 60" deck.
there have been some requests to build a smaller unit.
we will se what happens.
