View Full Version : Xstra blades
One thing that can avoid a nasty cut is to
wrap your blades in newspaper. Id be interested
in hearing any shortcuts or little tricks
you fellas have learned to make to make the
work go easier or better

Leather gloves work real well, too.
I carry my extra blades in a PVC pipe. Capped on one end and a screw cap on the other. It holds 6, 21" blades.

I keep my blades in a plastic tote tray with a set of 3 blades on each side and keep this in the tool box in the truck. We always wear leather gloves when handling the blades, because I get them razor sharp when I sharpen them.
I think I have shared all my tips in the past year on this forum. I think the first one was using double blades and it has been hashed over several times.
Another was cleaning the carbon out of the exhaust port when your loosing power on a 2 cycle engine which has been over looked by at least one member. I won't mention any names Andy. :D
Another one I shared on the snow forum was building a cab for my John Deere tractor we also use for snow plowing.
Another one was my spring assist on the trailer gate that I came up with a couple years before EZ Gate became popular. This can be seen on my website for anyone that hasn't seen it.
I guess that's all I can come up with for now. I'll try to do better in the next year. :)

Bob, That's pretty neat that you do that with PVC pipe, I do the same thing! I bolted a leather strap handle down the side, and one at the end also. We thought about marketing these things and calling them something like the "Blade Caddy" or something. You KNOW they would SELL in shops everywhere! You how much we pay for those stupid mesh litter bags for our mowers. They work GREAT! But imagine how much is wrapped up in material compared to the cost. Simple design!:)
The plastic pipe is a good idea.
As far as the gloves go anytime im working
with tools or or equipment Iwear gloves.
I decided Iwas just tired having busted
knuckles and cuts all the time.
