i have always mowed yards on a part time basis using basic equipment. i want to turn this into a real business. what are the basic things i need to do to get started? how can you determine if the area you live in is big enough to support your business? is is best to go with contracts or what do you need to do? how do you maintain income year round? do you add snow plowing services or what? any equipment suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i have used bunton walk behinds before, how reliable are they?

A business plan would be a good start. Research your area or the need for your type of business. Evaluate what equiptment is needed for whatever areas you target or the services you plan on providing. Set a budget to work with and dont over extend it until you can cover your costs without going into debt. Insurance coverage that is needed for your equiptment and liability for your business needs. Find what types of advertising is needed to aquire the target areas and/or services you'll provide. Also, do a search for older threads asking the same things you are. Tons of great info with a bunch of helpful people.
Best of Luck
