I was looking into plows for a walk behind last year and I belive Bunton was one of three that I found.I gave up on the idea because of the overall length of the unit.I bought a little Toro snow blower.

AB, I live in an area where we get snow once every 3 or 4 years (central Virginia). I don't want to buy a truck (my current truck is 2WD) and a plow and then have them sit for 3 years waiting for the white stuff. How much is a plow for a WB? I have a 48" Lesco with dual hydros. I know it has great power and seems unstoppable but could it plow good size parking lots or do you just use it for driveways. Any help would be appreciated.

That would be more for sidewalks and driveways Andy. My JD is great for that too, but even a small parking lot would take forever.

Kind of what I figured, thanks.

No they would be NO GOOD on parking lots. They are awsome for smaller areas but a parking lot is too big.

hey Barkley I'm in the same boat. I bought an atv thinking a truck plow was overkill on the overhead. I sold it thinking I could do better with a $35.00 snow shovel for my guys and limiting myself to residentials. But what if the big one came. Well I have found that the guys at Exmark can solve this problem. They make 60" plows for their lazers. a bit pricy though. almost 1 grand for the actualtor an sub fram and about 600.00 for the plow itself. Then i checked into a plow for a wb and they are about 300-500 dollars. They claim they are designed for a lot of inches. Exmark does not make these plows but they can refer you to the manusfacturer who does and i wouldn't dought if they made it for all sorts of makes and models.

Doesn't Toro make blades for themselves? Either them or Exmark does. I don't remember. I want to do plowing but it won't work with school and everything. I use a 27 hp diesel Kubota tractor to do our driveway. It has a dual stage snowblower on the front with a hydro lift to lift it up and down and 6 way angle blade on the back. Add 4WD and chains and you've got one snow-hungary machine!

iam also interested in doing such a "conversion" if any one has ideas or plans
i figured i would find some plate steel and a plow for a tractor and weld it up my self but if one is available , and it is comoetitevily priced thats easier

Lawman here. I have a 48" exmark wb with a 17 hp Kawasaki. Thank you for the help.
i don't know why anyone here hasn't tried to put a plow on a wb. there is almost no fabrication involved, you just have to make a mount for the plow (where the deck was). BRL was looking for one for his wright stander. it is possible guys, try and make one, don't spend $1000 on one made by the factory. just get an old plow for a garden tractor, and make a mount for your mower. alan would probably know a good solution to this.
to scag- why couldn't you plow? i do a few driveways with a snowblower in the time we have for a snow day or just a 2 hour delay. especially w/ a big tractor which doesn't require much skill. also, why do you have a new business name every week?

I just got the new Pro magizine and in it was "Snow Pro" suppliment. In there there was a company with a picture of a v plow they fabricated for the scag walkbehind, it was pretty nice.
Scag48 & Snow- I am in school too still and I still work during storms. I work for another landscape company that I have worked for for 3 years. He does alot of plowing including some schools. If I have to go to school then I usually work 2pm to 12am if no school then it's different. I run the skid steer, snow blowers or just shovel. Next year I will start running trucks, Its good, I'm sure you guys could still handle a couple drives.
if you read my post i said i do a few driveways with my snowblowers.

Snow,
Aren't you like 16? I'm not so I can't get to any of my jobs. I don't live in town, I'm on a farm about 4 miles from town. If it snows at night and I have to plow, there is no way I could get it plowed before any stores or anything opens. Waiting till after school to plow is not an option. Actually I don't change my name every week, just change my signature. My new biz name is Lakeshore Landscapes, for next year anyway. I wasn't really being creative when I picked my last one and didn't like it all that much.

If you purchase a v-plow for a ATV for 299.99. You can fabricate the mount for another 50.00. The only problem I had with a straight blade is some of the contract's sidewalks were over a block long. The amount of snow that built up started to cause the Scag to ride high leaving 2-3 inches on the concrete. The v-plow does not build up and I only use it on this type of sidewalks, the other Scag is set-up during winter with a recycled staight blade off a MTD-type equipment. It works great on small areas around the entrance, were you need to windrow.

WHAT KIND OF HORSEPOWER DO YOU THINK IS SUFFICIENT FOR A SET UP LIKE THIS?

The Scags had factory 18 L-head Kohlers on them, the old magnums. Anything with hydro and at least a 18HP engine would do fine.

The v-plow, I purchased was from Northern Tool & Equipment, by the time you added frt. it was 299.00. This particular v-plow can be adjusted manually to work as a straight or v, this works great if you have only have one machine.

Good news lawman!Exmark sells a blades for there walk-behinds,like scag.Infact! The blade is made by the same company that builds the plow for scag.I think custom making your own plow from a garden tractor or ATV may be a good idea, but you may have a balance problem. The factory model is made for your walkbehind and comes with weights so you can choose how much scraping power you want.We had a parking lot that had been left unplowed all winter. They finally paid us the $2000 they owed :-) then we plowed it with our scag. There was 3-4'' or rock hard ice/snow stuck to the parking lot,we where able to lift that stuff up with the blade no problem.Trust me our scag can not be stopped!!!!We have had 1 1/2 feet of wet sloppy snow and that scag never can be stopped!!!!!!Like I said before exmark sell a blade, the real nice thing is that it uses the "quick hitch" system. So you can use the 44'' blade,44'' sweeper and a 44'' blower. We own both a blade and plow.We can change between the 2 in less that 1 minute or 2.As far a HP goes. Our 14hp kohler has more pushing power than our Walker!!Oh ya!You said you have a kawaski.1 word of advice!Keep it in a well heated area!Kawaski's are great, but they are hard to start in the cold!Keep it running between jobs!
Hope this helped!

I have a 52' hydro exmark. How hard is it to take the deck off for a blade. Also I thought about doing all my small drives with it but I was not shure how well it would push snow. I also have a Dixie. I have seen pictures of a blade for them. Does any one have any experiance with this stuff. I have a plow for my truck, but for really small residential drives I think one off these setups would be faster easer, and less likley to tear up grass mulch beds and ect. On that 14hp kaw. For cold weather use just let it run all day. Put it on the trailer and let it Idle. Cant be that hard on it or use any fuel to amount to any thing.
