Lawn renovation question

Brand new home, 20K lawn,completely level. Grass planted by contractor did not take hold, nothing but weeds. After spraying to kill off weeds, is it necessary to rake them out or do you seed over the dead weeds, after a couple weeks, with slit seeder?

What's the current soil like rocky, good soil ? Sprayed with ? What type of seed are we using I would suggest Hydro seeding. A little quicker and less work. hope this helped

soil is sandy, Lesco teammates seed, 80% tall fesque, 20% perrennial ryegrass, not sure what chemical will be used, subbing that out.

Try to get rid of the weeds (dead material). Cleaner the seedbed, better the grass will grow. Especially if you hydroseed.

Make sure the chemical is either Round-Up or Paraquat/Diquat. Something that kills on contact and doesn't stay in the soil.
