A lot of us use Kawsaki engines on our mowers. Does anybody use Kawasaki trimmers and blowers?

I have a '99 KRB400A blower that I got used last fall. I haven't had to do a thing for it, it starts on the second pull cold and is very reliable. Enough power for what I need to do, and seems alot quieter than other b/p blowers I've tried (Echo and Shindaiwa). I'm very happy with it, only complaint is the Kaw dealer is JUNK but I could find parts elsewhere if needed.

what is the point of having the throttle control on the left side?

it seems that on the blower tube would be better place.

Speaking of left. Does ANYBODY make left handed stuff? Like BP blowers and CHAINSAWS? With no thumb on the right hand im defidently LEFT HANDED. Works fine for trimming and blowing with hand helds. But i have no clue how im gonna handle a chainsaw and im not really comfortable with the tube being on the right of a BP blower.

Im thinking seriuosly about some kawasaki hand held equipment, if it is as good as the engines on my John Deere and Toro then it should be some good stuff, im interested in anything anyone has to say about them, what i have found on the internet seemed a lil bit pricey, but lots of times cheapest isnt the way to go, lookin forward to hearing from yall

Left hand throttle is cheaper if it should break, and I'm told it is less likely to break a wire or cable. Also it is a set it and forget it thing, not spring loaded like a tube mounted one. Mostly personal preference I think, the Kawi models ending in A have left hand throttle and the B models have right hand throttle.

bushhogbaby--you amaze as usual. I am not questioning "what if (it breaks)". and what is the set it and forget it? is this the ronco chicken cooker principle thing applied to a blower?

my question (rephrased) is what is the point of taking two hands to run a blower when one will do?

and for those that don't understand...the LEFThand can be holding a nice cool sports drink...or simular.

yup, sounds like that dumb commercial on about 3 times a week here. You just set it, (audience all-together) AND FORGET IT!

I like the lefty throttle arm better. The fact that its not a "joystick" with a trigger-type throttle control makes me happy too-get sick of holding it with a finger after awhile. Sure they make them latches that lach the throttle button back, but its not full engine RPM. with the seperate arm, you just set to desired throttle position like on pretty much any other 4-cycle engine. THEN you can hold a drink :p

Like Loren said, automatic cruise control. Less fatigue. Personal preference.

My new Redmax 7001 doesn't. It's got the trigger on tube.

My echo has the left handed throttle.

And as far as the trigger set function not holding at full RPM, mine does.

is that supposed to mean: ATLAN-TECH? or some such?

anyway--the ole sthil br-400 is a right hand drive with cruise control that tops out at full RPM!:)

I would be unhappy withy less!;)

Have been using Kawasaki Trimmer for 2 years, starts immediately, plenty of power, light and never been back for repairs. I love it. Son uses a Shin, I am started and going long before he starts his.

Mine ALL start on first pull if I can get to the choke quick enough. Just got another 270 yesterday, so that's two(2) 270's, and a 230 that crank first pull. One 270 is almost 4 years old.

I'm impressed with all my Kawi engines (on the JD 757, JD BP50 backpack, dirtbike and four wheeler). All start very easily and run smoothly. Never left me hangin', just the occasional preventaive maintenance / repair. Like any engine, you gotta maintain them, but with the Kawi's you can depend on them.

I have a kawi engine in my deere bp60 backpack blower and it is a right hand throttle on the tube. I have used both and I prefer it on the right. The left hand control gets in the way; if I want to pick up a stick or something, I can just reach for it with my left hand. It's really just personal preference. Also, my trigger has a full rpm lock, not just a starting position. I think my blower is pretty much identicle to a kawasaki blower and I like it a lot.

Huh? My dads company is "Atlantec Contracting", so I just stuck with the name. I've thought about "Atlantec LawnScapes" or something like that, but just didnt seem right.

I had a kawasaki backpack blower and a weedeater. Both were stolen. Anyway I now have another kawasaki weedeater and soon will get another kawasaki backpack blower. They run quieter than echo and the backpack blower was about 18 lbs. My old echo was 24 lbs. Big difference in weight. My old echo was stolen also. The backpack and weedeater I purchased from Lesco and they also have good oil mix. A 2 gal mix bottle is about $1.00-half the price of echo oil mix. Weedeater is about $280.00 to $300.00 and the backpack is about $360.00 to $440.00. They are worth the money.

I have heard that Kawasaki parts are high. One dealer told me if I ordered a toro with a Kawi my air filter would be $45?

Man I'm in the minority here. I have a 26cc Kawi trimmer. It is 2 years old and is now a parts only machine. The engine runs like crap and the gearbox near the head is stripped. The air filtration is nearly worthless. The plastic used to guard the muffler will break if you sneeze on it. BUT the thing ran really smooth for a year and the lightweight and balance were absolutely awesome.

My 700B blower by Kawi is 2 years old and runs ok. It has just a little more power than my BR400. Every piece of plastic on it has broken. And the little rubber piece they use as a gas vent costs $10!!!!

I just bought 2 new Redmax trimmers for next year and will switch over to the 7001 blowers when my Kawi and Stihl blowers die. (Not long for the Kawi but the Stihl is 6 years old and runs perfect)

I've been running Kawi trimmers for about 6 -7 years.I'll swear by them, always start, lightweight, powerful, indestructible, they required minimal repairs over the years.I got my moneys worth. My first one i bought is still running.Of the Kawi trimmers I have 2 23cc's, 2 26cc's and 1 very powerful 32cc.I also run echos and they don't even come close to the Kawi.Hope this helps answer some of your questions.

I see alot of guys trimmers and blowers are extremely beat up, because some of the just throw them in the back of the truck or on the trailer, not having the proper racks to hang and secure them on.

My husky blower has a kawi engine. never failed. as to IMOGRASS. I happen to be one of those people that throw there backpack and trimmer in the back of my truck. I do have racks but find it easier and faster to throw in in the back of bed. Slides a little but whose to say what does more damage a little sliding or the vibration of the trailer and the racks??????
oh well I put them in the racks at the end of the day when I unhitch my trailer and put it in the garage.

I have the 34cc kaw trimmer I got it free with the purchase of a 48inch hydro w/b from Lesco 2 years ago it is a little on the heave side for a trimmer but it runs and trims great I am the only one that uses it other guys say its to heavey. Also have a kaw backpack paid about 450.00 for it we like the blower but thought it could been a little more heavy duty the plastic around the muffler keeps braking.

2-3 years back my ex boss tried Kawasaki trimmers he picked up 2 of them. They are light but cost more then the shindawas had less power and both of the shafts cracked and finally cracked off. They are not as well made as the shindawas or stihls. And that’s the only time IV ever seen weed wackers crack in half. They lasted less then 1 season. The price tag on them was 400 my shindawa t230-231s are 280 a pop and last longer to me its a no brainier.

As for right hand left hand on blowers that is clever as there are many of us that don’t like left hands and as powerful as the redmax is until they give me a control I like they can keep it as its useless to me with the garden beds I have to clean out. And the few times iv been foolish enough to try left hand I always get jabbed in the side by the throttle putting them on. Nooo thanks they didn’t have me in mind when they designed that not every one is a 130-pound Mexican.
