How important are floating decks? I'm looking at the Hustler Fastrak and I don't think it has a floating deck.

The larger the machine, the more a floating deck comes into play. What size are you looking at?

I'm looking at 52in decks with either an 18hp honda or a 20hp honda.

The FasTrak has a floating deck.
It is suspended by 4 chains, and has stabilizer bars in the rear to prevent forward or reverse movement.
The unit has a full set of anti scalp wheels that can be adjusted in 3 different positions to help you float over any parts of your property that it may need to.
Hope this helps

it all depends on your property layout whether or not you should or would use a floating deck compared to a fixed deck. Sometimes it is better to use a floating deck, while others it is better to use a fixed deck. It also depends on the operator.
