Dollars per day?

How many dollars per day could you do with this setup working on residential lawns ranging from 12-20K.

1T dump
16' trailer
2 48" WB's
1 48" Wright Stander
2 21" mowers.

Trimmers/blowers...

In my area by myself I could gross about $400-$500/day with that equip. With one employee about $675-$725 minus about $80-$100 for employee. With 2 employees about $775-850. I would think you could have 3 to 4 employees working for you with 3 WB's and plenty of trimming to do. I don't have experience with more than 2 employees so I couldn't answer.

I have the same setup except for the trailer, mines a 12'. I too try to have a 375-550 day when cutting. Its only me doing these so I do ok. If I added more employees I would think about an extra $300 per day, per employee to cover work comp. etc.

Full crew of 4-5 men gross $1,000 per day cutting 40+ residental yards.

Charles I will do the math but since you are a liberal I will take it easy on you. (Just Kidding) Just like the question asked for this type of lawn (15K) I charge $50-$60 depending on difficulty and location. 10 per day is fairly easy. Leave the house at 7:30 be at first lawn at 8:00. Each lawn should take about 45 mins maximum. 5 minutes max travel time between lawns. So 10 in an 8 to 9 hour day is very achievable. 10 lawns X $50/$60 per lawn = $500-$600 per day. If you can't get these prices then you need to consider moving on to more profitable lawns.

Nah we can't get 50 or 60$ per .45 minute lawn around here. People in VA must be richer than I thought. 5 min travel time? I know it has to take 5 to 10 minute to load up at least. You can sit at on redlight for 5 min. You must be working until 8 or 9 at night. I quit at 6. Start at 8. You must work on contract and not take time to talk to customers either to get paid. i use a 60" mower and you using a 48"... oh well never mind whatever you say. Homer what you think?

You guys must have turbo charged mowers. I can do as much as $400 plus in a day by myself....but the bods gonna pay and I don't have enough high dollar accounts to keep that up. Realistic is $250-300 solo and $300-500 with a helper. I mow with 62" Stander and 52"Z. The "figure" to figure out is what your expenses are and then what your min. daily work total needs to be.

I almost never see a $50 lawn around here either let alone a whole weeks worth. I can't get anyone to go above $35 here in the burbs of Cleveland

Homer thinks some of these figures are inflated.........................maybe! My average lawn is 35.00 in Alabama, and they aren't garden homes like some are in other parts of the country. I have been turning out quite a few lately with my recently acquired helper. we range from 8 t0 12 each day depending on size and travel time, with the average being 10 thats only $350.00 per day. I think I've had one good $550.00 day in the last 2 years and that was a 14 hour day. I really need to concentrate on paying my bills not becoming a millionaire mowing grass. I'm glad to see that somebodys doing something right, I couldn't find a days worth of $50.00-$60.00 lawns in my area if I tried.

Charles, you and I must take what comes our way for now, new subdivisions are going up all over the place here, maybe our local competition can form some kind of association and raise our rates!

Thats true Homer and the rest of the replys are more realistic. I have done 10 yards in a day many times before. But they were a mix of 6000 sq ft and 25000sq ft. And I had to bust my butt and work 12 hours with no lunch. Yards ranged from 35 to 45$. Its just not worth it and takes a toll on you. I use to find that a helper slowed me down lol. I still wouldn't move farther away from Myrtle beach and Charleston and daytona beach if you paid me more. :). But if the guy is getting 50$ to 60$ per .45 min yard thats great. We should all be getting that.

i think barkley is right on i dont have many of these but i do not target this size residental enough you need the type of city and a reputation to keep those well paying accounts over the years

not that everyone does not have a good rep but i see his figures doable without "killing himself" over a twelve hour day he may not be slacking much but thats is the beauty of being young and fit

Just to gloat a little more, I have one commercial that pays $580 per cut and after I'm done with that one I can go mow 2 or 3 residentials. Long day, YES. Am I getting paid, YES. The 15K sq ft lawns around here are where its at. I myself have a 60" Chopper. While I answered the above post thinking I could do that work with a 48" (and I think I could) using a 60" Chopper in the hot but not super hot Virginia summers is not by any means killing your body. For a 15K lawn I mow for 10-15 mins trim for 15 mins and cleanup for 5 mins. Loading takes little to no time and the next lawn is generally less than 5 mins away. Once again you do the math. Around here I am average priced, more than a couple of guys charge much more than I do.

I would love to get my hands on a couple of those, I would get rid of days of 30-45 dollar jobs making 275-325 tops and working my tail off.My jobs are not far apart, but the traffic is unbeliveable.

yes mow money that $580a mow is nice but if you lost that 1 contract it would hurt business, if you lost a $30mow you can replace it very easy. Its much easier to target the $30 - $50 lawns out there!

Very true Landscaper3, I do not want to lose this property. But the best part about this property is that I have received 1 call all year. Imagine all the calls you have responded to for all of those $30 something lawns. Time is money and money is time.
