i have an echo that i like a lot. i don't have a lot trim work all year, just a lot in about a months time. what i like about my echo is, after 11 months of sitting it starts on the second pull every year for the last 5 years.
----------
thats my 2 cents,
mike

I would recommend Tanaka, they are a lot lighter than the Stihl trimmers and less expensice.........I am a Stihl fan all the way on everthing else but those things tend to get real heavy after an hour or so. If its routine maintenance your doing go with the lightest ones you can find, if its heavy stuff go with the Stihl.
Homers opinion

if you have a robin dealer in your area you may go look at the robin units, light weight, awesome blades and good engines.
you would be impressed.

I just bought a Maruyama hedge trimmer. It is great. Cuts like a hot knife through butter. Can't speak for all of the other brands but this is great. I looked at the Husky as well and choose this one because it weighed less and was less bulky.
I have a Husky string trimmer and would not trade it for anything else.
Try em out before you buy.

----------
Jeff
Trimmer, I bought a Husqvarna 225H60 and would buy another one. Excellent cut with plenty of power. Hope this helps. Mowman

I just bought a Stihl HS-80 and it pretty much glides through anything. It's heavy, though. I do like the rotating handle. Runs like a charm.
FWIW, Consumer Reports (don't laugh) rated both the Stihl and the Husky hedgers at the bottom of their gas hedger ratings.
They suggest the $120 Weedeater brand or the $250 Echo 1500.

I like mowman have a Husky 225h60 and I have never had anyproblems with it. A lot of people do knock Husky stuff, but I started out with all Husky stuff and thay are still being used today. However, I recently bought a Tanaka string timmer and hedge trimmer. I have an echo string trimmer, and I tried out a Stihl before I bought the Tanaka. No contest, Tanaka beats em all hands down. Just my 2 cents worth.
----------
Richard Holton
Jesup, GA

I have had the Stihl HS-80 for about 1 month and I have a lot of bushes to trim, about 30 hours a month. the Stihl HS-80 is nice and light, the down fall is that the gas tank is real small so you have to fill up a lot more. I used echo too but I am sold on the Stihl HS-80
Gainesville fla
Woo hoo We got Rain

I have an echo 1500 and the cut is not that great what I am looking for is a good clean cut and the echo just dosen't deliver that so I am looking to replace it. I do mostly maintance so bush hogging with the thing is not nesscary.
I've had a Stihl hedge trimmer for, I guess, 3 years now. It's been through heavy months of trimming and a good year off from any action but still works great. Like someone else mentioned, the gas tank seems to need filling a lot, and I seem to have to adjust the carb a bit from time to time, but it still starts right up and works right through.
Haven't tried anything else (except a small weedeater brand. forget that!), so I can't really compare. I do like my Stihl, though...
-TGC

I have the Stihl HS80. I runs great and has lots of power but I hate using it for more than 5 min, and I'm a big guy! That thing is HEAVY! I use it only on big stuff that needs the power. I am thinking about getting the smallest stihl hedge trimmer soon. Anybody used that one? What do people think is the lightest trimmer? Anybody used a cordless?
Firebrand

Trimmer: I currently own 2 Husky 225H60's and
one 225H75.
1st: There friggin heavy!
2nd: Parts availbilty sucks and my dad's a dealer!
3rd: There expensive!
We started out with all the Husky toys ie: trimmers, blowers, saws, hedge trimmer, etc.
Over the period of 3 years I wore out the trimmers, the blowers have Kawasaki engines and still run strong and the saws kick ass but I will never buy another Husky hedge trimmer. Out of my 3 I'm lucky if one will run! Overall there just too tempermental and have numerous problems with the engine idle, continous bar adjustment (allways loose) or losing bar nuts even with loc-tite. Also the muffler gaskets deteriate prematurely. Anyway get a Stihl or Red Max, good luck!

I have a Stihl HS72 and HS80. Both are wonderful. Plenty of power. They are a little on the heavy side and after many continuous hours of use they tend to make my hands hurt due to the vibration.
