I was just wondering what types of mowers everyone is using. I haven't seen anything on this site about Dixie Choppers or Grasshoppers. Just wondering why.

Mostly Ferris (Z's and WB's) and a couple of Toros riders. You will find that as you travel around the coutry, manufacturer preference changes greatly.

Here in the northeast, Scag, eXmark, Hustler, Ferris, and Toro dominate. Grasshopper, Bunton, Lesco, Wright Stander, Dixie Chopper, and others are virtually non-existant.

Something NEW?

I haven't heard of a "NEW" twin engine, but the twin Kohlered S'Burb'N Turb'N has been around for at least 8 or 9 years.

Matter of fact, the starter of THIS THREAD (Moore Mowing) has one.

exmark. exmark. exmark.

Do a search, you'll find a few threads about mowers. Also, there have been a few polls on the subject, with comments.

The twin engine Dixie Choppers are unbelieveable. They dont bog down. Each engine has 23hp. combined 46hp for a 72 inch deck. It gets the mowing done quick.

The John Deere 797 MidZ 29 HP 72" is the main machine I'm using now. I have had little problems with it and my dealership is really good. It was a tough choice between the Lexmark and Deere. However, I have a green background and anything other than Deere was difficult.

All JD for mowing and trimming - Have one eXmark WB - By the way John Gamba - How much grass do you actually mow on that beach picture you keep flooding our computers with?

10-25-2003, 07:55 PM
I am sure that is a direct result of how much money an Exmark can make you during the seasons. I have never had good luck with my JD dealer so I drive 30 min. to the next closest where I am taken care of like a pro should be. Not to insult you Flex, You have a great product but I feel the price could be a little better. And I still don't care for JD

10-25-2003, 08:03 PM
TRex - I am all for good dealer support - I live in Iowa and JD is big around here and If I have a problem, I am either first in line or get a loaner - Dealer support first - eXmark, and a lot of other brands are great mowers - I think most people on this site get too interested in price, and brand, and do not look closely enough at the dealer they will be using to keep the operation in tact once the mower is purchased.

Thanks Brad

10-25-2003, 08:47 PM
You exactly right Flex he needs to look at the dealer support more closely and then the dealer can help point him in the right direction as far as showing him the repair shop and a talk with the serviceman to let him know what he has to work on the most. And what will work behe best for his operation and what color he likes best. These factors have not been talked about enough in this post.
