Remove the spark arrestor screen and use Opti-2 2 cycle oil for your mix.

You may have to take the muffler off to scrape the entire port. It really is easy but you have to be very careful to not touch the piston. Also, I do it so the exhaust port is pointing towards the ground so no carbon goes into the cylinder. One more bit of advice, when reattaching the muffler do NOT overtighten the bolts or else you will have to use helicoils to redrill the holes (no fun at all). Good luck

Just like the other post said you have to use quality mix and remember different gas stations have somewhat different gas.

Remove the spark arrester screen and switch to Amsoil 100:1 premix but, run it at an 80:1 ratio. Your problem will disappear.:p

All my small engines that are a mix do that. Once in a while, you have to take off the screen, and take a plumbers torch to it. It will burn off the carbon. It only takes a couple of seconds, and then it runs great.

Yep. Lose the screen. Take it off every piece as soon as you get it and run quality oil. Easy problem to fix.
I clean the ports every year and get rid of the screens. Use quality oil with the correct mix and this should correct your problems with all your 2 cycle machines.

Like mentioned earlier clean the screens run Amsoils 100:1 and mix it for 80:1 (8oz to 5gal) that will take care of it. Amsoils 2 cycle burns cleaner than anything else. You could mix it 50:1 for a severe duty operation.

I have wanted to ask yall about the 100:1 and 80:1 mix, I would be afraid that one of my trimmers would seize up and be out of several hundred bux, do yall good luck with it?, i usually mix '' sea foam '' with my gas, it is really good for carbon build up, a gas stablizer, and a water disperser. The cost varries from about 4- 5 dollars for a pint. The directions say to add 1 oz to regular gas and up to 2 oz for 2 cylce per gallon, I use 1 oz per gallon in all of my 2 cycle mix and dont have any carbon problems, but i use stihl and echo 2 cycle oil

I havent had a problem with 80:1 using amsoils synthetic if your alittle wary you can still mix it richer.
the reason you can mix it 80:1 or even 100:1 is becasue amsoil is pure oil meaning there are no impurities in the oil itself. Were conventional 2 stroke is only problably50% oil and the rest is additives that are put in to burn off all the impurities that arnt refined out of the oil during manufacturing so you have to mix it richer. All that thick smoke generated are the additives and impurities burning off and thats what clogs the screens, sparkplugs ect;)
