I was just wondering how many people are completly, 100%, honest about reporting their gross income? You know that we are in a cash bussiness (some of the time , esp. in residential accounts). And do you agree w our govt spending our tax $$$ in countries that have never been ourn allies or will never be. Ex. Nigeria just got over 250 Million in federal aid. What has this country EVER done for us? And why should our money be spent there? Just like to hear your comments. (I have contacted Eric and your ID will not be violated or reveled)

Part of the game of business! Hire an accountant. Paying taxes is a game, too! Uncle Sam offers a lot of deductions, based on your business classification (Sole Prop., S-Corp., Corporation) Reseach and use them to your advantage.

You better hold something back, if you are audited they will assume x % is cash and y/x% wasnt reported and rots of ruck proving otherwise so take your liberties now the IRS expects it.

I agree with Stone. Creative bookkeeping is the trick. I bought a book on creative tax writeoffs. and one can even write off part of your rent(if your office is there) And I do believe that entirely too much $$$ goes to countries that will never be an asset to our country. There is too much to take care of here.

A timely article(AP) in the paper today. Irs hires 400 new agents. An investigation already underway target tax evaders and non-filers. Irs looks into off shore accounts. There no place to hide lol

Creative bookkeeping aside, the tax code is voluntary and whatever you put on the forms is ok with the IRS but when the audit comes you best have your ducks in a row with backup. The IRS will target those with the least ability to defend themselves and even if you blow through one audit guaranteed next year it will be something else.

I was audited 15 years ago and paid additional tax and fines but every year since they send me a letter wanting documentation on line "x".

Just be sure you understand what you are being creative about, how you got there and how to back it up. Once the IRS finds a chink in the armor they will come calling again and again.

The consequences of not paying taxes are scary. One co. two yrs ago got nabbed. Claimed he made 30k actually did 100k. One this yr. got caught withholding 150k over 3-5 yrs. Twenty yrs in prison with major fines if/when convicted.

Taxes suck period. However we should all pay our share.
I know this sounds crazy. Life is short. I believe that we will all have to answer some day.

If the IRS suspects you are hiding cash. They just work backwords. They look at what you own and your monthly payments. Your vacations and what it should cost you to live. Food, electric etc. Then they figure up how much income you would have to make to live at this standard. Thats all they have to do to find out if you are cheating them.

You're right, and I do pay, reluctantly, but I pay. It just burns my rump to see people who never work pay for bottled water, steak, and Cheeto's on my dime.

Hello, I am an IRS auditor and I work on commission and I will take my family on a cruise this year by culling email addresses from lawn forums and using a search engine to find all your true identities and make everyone back up on their tax forms all the bragging they did on the forum last year.

Am I?
