I am going to have to change my business name. I chose QUALITY LAWN CARE this year in the spring. I checked the phone book and didn't find a one. I registered my name with the SOS office, so I do "own" it, but now I've found others in town using "Quality" in their name.

I know I could push the issue with them because I'm registered, but I really don't want all the hassle that goes with doing that. I've been doing some small landscaping projects also, and now I want to somehow work that into my name if possible.

I'm going to keep my slogan, "Expect The Best", which I thought went very well with the word Quality.

My nephew is using the name, "A Sharper Image". I'd like to find something catchy like that.

So, please let the creative juices flow….<G>

I am a firm believer in using your real name as your business name. I think this shows that you are proud of your business and stand behind what you do.Just my opinion, please don't get upset.

My friend's business is called "Quality Lawn Maintenance". There is also "Quality Lawn Service" in the area. He has gotten phone calls confusing the two names. A typical customer won't see the differance.

Here's some company names from our neck of the woods:
Clean Cut
Grounds Control
Green Grass Inc.
Creative Visions
Crusader Landscaping
Evergreen Landscape Svcs.
You could be Quality Lawn Maintance and Landscape
or Quality turf management
or Quality Landscape Services
I think Quality should be what they remember so put it first
when discribing yourself. Then when people see you they will say there's Quality! Kind of catchy huh? good luck.

Sure, use "Quality" and join the thousands of others who are called "Quality Cuts" and "Quality Lawn" and "Quality this and that and the other". That's about the same classification as "Joe's Lawn Care". (No offense to all of you "Joe's Lawn Cares" out there. My real name is Joe too.) Take your time, and use your Imaganation. Your real name is ALWAYS a good way to go, but something catchy and memorable is ALWAYS a good idea. Also, try to make it short, so it is easy to write on checks, and it is easy to jot down when they see your signs. Here in my area there is one company that has about the best name around, and that is GROUND EFFECTS. (I hope you don't mind, Tom.) I've always loved that name. I'm thinking about making a seperate entity for my fertilizing branch and calling it GROUND CONTROL. I always thought that was cool. Other real cool names I thought were "A Cut Above" and "Sharper Image." Anyway, good luck with it, and TAKE YOUR TIME.

The name of my business is Lynn's Lawns, which I thought was kind of catchy, and my motto is "where you get mower for your money". Lynn

Mine is "Mark's Mow and Blow" seems to work well for me.......

Just kidding guys.... it used to be "Mark's Quality Lawn Care" but i was labeled too much of a "LAWN GUY", or "Do you still cut lawns?" and i didnt want that.

Now, it's "Hordyk Landscaping"

I like it...

I disagree! I think anyone that uses their name or initials as their business name shows a complete lack of creativity. It's almost a copout when you name your biz after yourself. Unless your famous, nobody cares what your name is.

Mine was RC's Lawn care and I was fine with that, except people felt like I only did maintenance and would not be interested in any installs. If I ever go back into lawn care which could be sooner than later, I will be "whatever" outdoor services. I think it sounds professional and feels like the client would to want to explore what this business has to offer.

Most of my customers don't care if I'm creative. "I could do some fancy cutting on your lawn with various heights as I'm driving along", i would explain "its a Monet" or some impression I had on their lawn. They would reward me with all kinds of recognition and financial rewards. I would be sought after far and wide and would be cutting only the fanciest lawns in the nation or the world at that matter. oh o sorry I dozed off there and had the most wonderful dream...........
What to call my life's work. Use your initials and a couple adjectives.

Just cause your nephew ripped off someone elses name doesn't make it a good idea - I subsribe to what other have said about using your own name why hide behind someone elses or one that sounds like someone elses I use my first name Ralph's Yard Care - I have had several people so a lot of surprize when they see that Ralph is me!

A local city cop in my little town uses Lawn Enforcement. I go by the Lawn Moores, my last name, and, being a french speaker my handle is the marquis de sod. Small time business but we stay entertained. My clients react favorably to the company name.
