Just starting out. What should I expect for the first season? For example. How much business? I want to cut grass and do landscaping.
How would you all start if you had it to do over again?
Thanks for your responses in advance.

How much business?? = How much are you willing to work??
I found that the first couple of years, I had smaller equipment that got me by until I built up the business. Make sure to do quality work as your work acts as a good advertisment. One other complaint from customers I have heard is the lack of companies returning phone calls.

Read the "Tips" thread by Eric Elm in this forum, lots of good beginner advice there and read the rest of this "Just Starting" forum.
If you'll read every thread in it, not only will your current questions get answered, but many others as well.

Thanks guys time to get busy. I have been researching this biz too long. Time to just do it.
I agree too many companies do not return phone calls.
The one advantage I have is a client list from carpet cleaning biz.

I would suggest working a part time job before you go full force into the business. And like mentioned above, "How much are you willing to work to get the business?"

Hey Tiedman I have a carpet cleaning business that keeps me going.
I want to day lawn care and landscaping full time as soon as possible.
Thanks for the reply.

zimm, I would start right now getting a customer base for next year. I know that this may sound bad, but I would try to get as many of customers as you can. You can slowly weed them out next year or as the years go on.
The one thing that I would be careful of is though, buying too much equipment. I did that my first time out, and I had to get out of the business (sell my equipment), and start a new. That is one of the things that I regret.
