I'm an hour east of KC and thinking of starting doing lawn care in your area. Is there room for a quality company to come in?

I'm still considering it. It would be quite a move for me. What I need to do is try and line some work up there. My quality and name with provide me with more work.

Haven't heard, but have to go to the DOT building sometime this week. I'll ask.

call me and let me know if this is true. I heard it from a contractor that has a friend with DOT and he told him that. Said its actively a law but not enforced as of yet.

allseasonsllc,
Have you got someone already to sub contract those Pizza Hut's? If not I might be interested in doing those for you. We are a full service company out of Overland Park. Just let me know, we work everywhere in the KC metro area. Thanks

Tim, I also have a guy that wants me to mow next week. I hope my blades are here by then.

Andrews, I see you have both a wright and a Dane, what are your thoughts on the differences?? Who'd you buy the wright from??

Anyone going to the home/lawn/garden show at bartle hall this weekend??

allseasonsllc
03-19-2004, 12:16 PM
I'll be there. Last year I bought 2 walk behind Gravely mowers there. Hope I don't spend any money there this year LOL

bottlefed89
03-19-2004, 01:43 PM
Allseasons, when are you planning on going?? I'd like to talk to you/meet you sometime. Sounds like that may be a good place. Do they normally make decent deals there?? Last one I went to wasn't as big as this one at Bartle, but no one was really making any better deals then the dealers were giving at any other time. I need a new blower or 2 and was wondering if I should bring some cash.

allseasonsllc
03-19-2004, 03:28 PM
I would take cash or checks or credit cards

I did last year and bought a brand new Gravely 48" Belt for $2000.00 It was a demo with 2 hours on it.

Retail on it was $2999 so YEA GOOD DEAL

if you talk and try to make them drop the price most of the time they will just bargain with them like a car salesman. I left the gravely booth and went over to the exmark and started talking to that guy. The gravely rep came over and ask to talk to me for a second and sold me the mower......

bottlefed89
03-19-2004, 04:45 PM
So, was there quite a few people selling blowers/trimmers and such?? Seems like everyone had their mowers at the last one I went to, but I didn't really pay attention to much else. Also, the sign I saw said home, flower, lawn/garden show(or something to that effect), will there be a lot of lawn care people there?? When's everyone going??
thanks

I didn't end up going. I went to St. Louis to see my uncle, the doctors didn't think he would make it through the weekend so the family went down to see him. He's "ok" now but have to see. Hope next year show is better by what i hear.

It rained like a.............. for a while there, I've got a few spots I won't be able to mow for another week now.

robertsturf
04-21-2004, 09:26 PM
That's a bummer , I've got a few lawns that are always wet. It's a real pain to mow , when you have to double cut the lawn , for no extra charge.

Thank you for the welcome,

I just run of of my last name now Gensler Lawn Care. I ran Southside Lawn Care a few years back when I was in college and I am just now getting back into it. Now I am working with a buddy and we mainly just cut, trim, & edge for the lawn care stuff, but we do quite a bit of handyman work and small construction. A little bit of landscaping on a small scale, small tree removal, painting, we have a few decks lined up this summer to build already. we want to keep the lawncare to less than 20 accounts because we are both teachers and are doing this on a part time basis right now. Just something to keep us busy during the summer.
