How about charging just a little less than the original quote for something like a one time deal such as a cleanup or something. This one only if you feel you made out well. Another is perhaps dumping and refilling the dog's water dish when you are finished. Good thread!
If you do get by work and have to be prodded
by customer your an hourly wage earner
working under his supervision.
If you do your best work all the time.
You are a professional and working to your
own standard.

We always blow off neighbors driveway that are cutting their own yard. Most try to sweep off with brooms. It sure makes them happy!

Check and adjust your air pressure in your tires. Mine always leak down anyway so I have to do it routinely.

Hey Homer, when doing all that on the list when do you find time to work? haha just kidding. You are correct. Go the extra mile, even if sometimes it just appearance. I hate it when someone finishes and just parks their butt at the trailer.

I have one rule concerning sitting around. If i am then they can be too. Otherwise, be doing something. If that is a problem, then they can start spending the extra time off looking for a new job!

Sometimes my customers will say something like "We're so glad you came! It looks so nice! We're having friends over for a cookout this weekend!" I always like to say. "Great! Should I bring the potato salad?"

Runner,I bet their mouths dropped open for a second when you said that. LOL. When I made the above reply. I was just trying to see that you guys succeed. Because I care. Thats the kind of person I am. Oh yea and don't foget to stare in their windows during grasscutting with your tongue hanging out and you are drooling. You just don't want to spoil your customers

I try to pick up the dogs and kids toys so they get destroyed. I did have a daycare that kept leaving stuff all over the yard. They quit doing that after I ran over one of them. Sometimes people push and push just to see what they can get away with.

i wonder if this was a bad work ethic? about a month ago,i asked on of my customers if i could buy his house, when he asked me why-i pointed next door to the babe washing her car in a skimpy bikini-he told me that feature upped the resale value by 25% because she does that twice a week.he is about 70 years old.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks of things like bringing up the trash can, putting the paper on the porch, blowing off the neighbor's drive or walk, picking up trash, and changing the blades in front of a house. A competitor gave me the riot act for the blade thing. He said things like that should not be done in the street. I asked if he would cut for the rest of the day with dull blades, or waste time going home. He just gave me a look that deer get when you shine a light on them in the dark.
Oh yeah, I also keep a flat shovel to scoop the dirt out of the gutter, and a 5 gal pail for sticks.
