I lived in Edmonton for a year and then in Sault Ste. Marie, ON for a year. And I married a Canadian. I will admit one thing about Canadians...they are so much nicer than Americans. (and of course healthcare is cheap:))

12-10-2003, 04:39 AM
haha.. Healthcare is peanuts, I dont know about you american's?

What do you guys pay out there for healthcare?

12-10-2003, 04:42 AM
well alpine, lets just say that I had to go the emergency room in the Soo, ON...I was only charged $105 Canadian. So about $70 American. Well, here in the states, I would have paid probably close to $300 for something like that.

Do you know where Maple Ridge is in BC, that is where my wife is actually from?

12-10-2003, 04:52 AM
Ohhhhhhhh yea.. Maple Ridge is out in the BOONIES! out of no where, nothing to do.. hick town.. red neck.. hillbillies, farmlands... lol..

It takes me about 30-45mins to get there, not bad..

So you and your wife live in the states now? how'd you meet your wife!

met her through friends. I moved out to Edmonton to become a dual citizen once we got married, but we decided to move back to the states instead. But we ran into a problem. Since we got married in Canadian, we had to do about half of our paperwork in Canada before she was allowed in. So that is why we moved to Sault Ste. Marie, ON, which is on the border of Michigan so she could work and I could work and we could finish up the paperwork. It took her a little over two years to get her green card. Lets just say that it was TOO LONG!!!

I hope you're happy now :)

How does that freakig work? You must live near the border of canada and usa, between ontario and michigan?

Well, we now live in the central michigan area. But the reason that we lived right on the border, (which we were only like 1/2 block from the port) for she could work on the Canadian side and I just had to cross the port everyday to work as well on the state side. Because she was not legally allowed to live or work on the states side until her first half of her paperwork was complete, and my Visa expired, so I couldn't legally live or work on the Canadian side, even though I did live there, just not work. We got to know a lot of the guards as well, which made things a lot easier every time that I or her would cross.

You people from Canada, do you have a sense of humor? Cause I'm going to tell you a joke.

We live in Texas and on the southern border to Texas is Mexico. The two countries are separated by a big river. If Mexicans want to come into this country illegally, they swim the river. We have a slang expression for these people, we call them "wetbacks". Want to know what we call Canadians?

Frozen Backs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
