My neighbor and good friend has a 36 inch eXmark metro walkbehind. When he makes sharp turns he sometimes tears up his lawn. What tires would help reduce tearing on sharp turns?
Thanks in advance.

The same ones he has, when they get more worn, they will tear less. Since he has no hydro, a zero turn is impossible, so he needs to slow down more in turns, until his tires wear out more.
He may just have to get a little more experience with the machine. I have found that new tires, with good tread, actually tear less, because they don't spin as easily as worn tires. This especially applies to when you start the next row after turning, maybe not so much in the actual turning.
Besides slowing for turns, he can try pulling back on the on the side that he is turning towards (if turning right, pull back on the right handle) with the control handle in the "neutral" area. It takes a little practice, but it kind of gives you an "imitation" zero-turn effect. If this makes any sense to you!
Also, opposite of that, try not locking the inner wheel when you are turning. Just slow it down until you sort of do a "U"-turn instead of spinning on the wheel.
Hope this helps.
