View Full Version : Who still has clean-ups to do?
12-10-2003, 11:50 PM
I only have 10 clean-ups, left but there is about 4 inches of snow on the ground. I am hoping I can get them done by Christmas. Even though I plow, I did not want to see snow this early, on top of that, I blew out my tranny plowing, that set me back 2200$.
Is anyone else waiting for the white stuff to melt so they can finish up there season?:dizzy:

It just melted here yesterday. I had a renovation(removing 5 large coulmnar junipers and 2 dogwood trees) to prep for an install yesterday.Tomorrow we have 3 small cleanups to do, a wall to finish, and next week, we have a 8000sqft new yard install. It is now raining(all day), and I don't know when the ground will dry out any, if at all to get the new lawn in. I could have done without the snow until after Christmas as well. My plow rig is about ready to go into service, but I'd rather be doing prep work and removals until then. I hear my pals in NY & CT .were busy this past week, though.More Snow=More Dough.I'm ready for anything...bring it on...:D payup payup

6.5" of snow yesterday, more over the weekend and more in the forecast for early next week.
I dont like messing around too much on the grass when it's this cold and the soil is frozen rock hard.
The only trees stil shedding leaves are the pin oakes and they shed their leaves throughout the winter.
I guess what's not done by now is gonna stay undone until spring next year.

Got a few to do just before christmas on some contract houses to get it looking good. Other than that i am done for the season.

I also had about 10 more to do. We'll see if I can get any done before X-mas. If not, I guess I'll be doing more spring clean ups then I expected.:(

I have about 5 more to do. plus a walkway to do and a clearing job to do. I may get the clearing job done if we don't get snow this weekend agian because alota what we have is melting now. I just hope it all melts or we get another storm soon, as long as we can keep working I'll be happy.

Yeah, if we get another snow I will be happy, but I just feel like I havent finished the job if I let clean-ups go all winter:confused:

Still have about 60 clean-ups to go. Mostly light ones, though. It is raining pretty heavily here now, and the snow really seems to be melting. It would be a great Christmas gift is we were able to get another week or two of work in.
I like plowing and all, but 18", that was ridiculous. Happy Holidays, all. Mike

we had 3-4 inches on the ground yesterday morning, this morning- nothing. It rained hard and long last night. Probably will get as many done as possible over the next few days, even plan on working Sunday. They're calling for heavy snow by Monday again.
Get those jobs done and the statements out!

I'm at school taking exams today but the guys are working on 8 cleanups today. We also have some more for tomorrow and Saturday and then we should be pretty much done.

We have approx 150+- a few left - hope the "wintry mix" fizzles so we can resume next week. We receivced enormous amounts of rain last night & this morning which flooded out a lot of places. Tomorrow, wehave to plant the 4 trees which have been in my one pick-up for a week now. We have an 8' Eastern white pine, 7-8' river birch, 8' Stellar pink dogwood and a 6' Canadian hemlock.
I for one would like to see no more snow til at least mid-January so I may finish.

I'm in SW PA and the Fall season was about 10-12 days earlier this year (at least I think so). Most of the leaf removal work was done by Thanksgiving. I still had a few minor cleanup jobs left for last week. I did the last mowing job one week ago.
Last year, snow came fast and heavy right after Thanksgiving, so the last 10-12 jobs never were finished. This year, I did many mowing jobs AFTER all the leaves were done -- turf was still growing, great green color, and the leaves were long gone. This is unusual for my properties. Usually, the last mowings include some final cleanup too.
I've still found some other odd jobs to do (hauling compost piles, digging out bushes, or anything else somebody will give me to do).

I'm done with clean-ups but 2 days ago a customer called and wanted a final cut. Good thing I haven't made time to winterize the equipment.

well, trob, it looks like we will be ble to resume sometime next week!
That snow disappeared overnight with all that rain! I'm gonna let things dry out a bit and resume Monday weather permitting.
Since I don't have a plow, I NEED these clean ups!

my last day that I did clean ups was December 3rd. The last day that I did any type of thing either lawn or landscape related for a cusomter was when I winterized their evergreen shrubs and that was on the 5th. Since then I have been just sitting back hoping that it will snow or freezing rain for some work.

Hopefully we will be done with cleanups by Saturday afternoon, then next week we have a few days of mowing to do if the ground isn't frozen. Can't wait to be done!
