We are thinking about having one of our installers do some selling this year. Anyone have any suggestions as to what would be fair to pay him?
Thanks

Commission. I would not pay a straight hourly wage or salary.

Typical sales comission 15% of the gross. My number 1 salesman makes great money . The more he sells the more I make . He has his parameters on pricing if he sells for more he makes more , if he screws up he pays the difference

mike,
when my techs sell install work, i tie their commision to the gross profit of the project. i used to give 8-10% of the total job as a commision, but if they estimated wrong, the company was taking the hit and the sales person still got the flat rate commision.
now, they have accountability. if they erred, there commision will suffer.
there is a reason why some sales persons get the big $$$.
