I was just wondering how many of you have some kind of education past high school. If so how much and what kind? Do you have any education in landscaping or just business or both? Thanks

From the level of literacy shown online I'd tend to think that there's not a lot of high school education in evidence here. I don't see how a lot of folks online can even begin to write up a proposal that can be read or interpreted.

I have a 4 year degree in Business and a 2 year degree in Horticulture Science. I also have an emphasis in Landscape Design along with my Horticulture degree. I find it somewhat helpful although most people will learn "on the job" as I have. However if I didn't have my degrees I would still get them, especially at the level of business that we are at. Hope any info helps. Feel free to ask!

Frankly I can't believe the illiteracy of some on this board.
Writing like an 8-year-old is disgraceful and disrespectful to the rest of the members of this forum.
If you are either to lazy or to stupid to use a spelling and grammar checker one should keep their thoughts to themselves.

While at times I found it very offensive to me about my spelling and grammer. You see on our proposals we do have spell check and my wife also proofreads all paper work she has a BD in accounting and accounts payable. As for me I had it rough and my grammer and spelling sometimes shows. Parents got divorced very nasty one, got dragged 1500miles away father and didnt see him for 10 years. Had to quit school to support myself as mother re-married a bad man that wouldnt let me live with them. Left school in 8th grade to support myself and worked full time since then. 4 years ago went back to get my GED and passed first time and was very proud of myself, Now I own a Landscape Company that continues to grow every year and I have it better off than alot of book smart people out there in the world. So as for you people who judge people on there grammer and spelling on forums your sadly mistaken they can be some of the smartest and most ingenus people out there with out being book smart. I siad my peace!!!!!!!!!

Who in the world will pay for that service? Im not paying for someone to spellcheck or proof read my posts and all business related items, my very book smart wife does that for me.
I have a master's in science education (that's right I'm a teacher) and I do this for a hobby! (you all know how much us teachers make! ;-)

High school degree. From there i went to college with my GI BIll. I am currently (One or two quarters per year) taking speech and other oral type classes. I have found them to be of tremendous use while talking to groups of people about lawncare. Even my drama class helped me when i deal with a particularly "flighty" customer i have.

It's "TOO lazy or TOO stupid"
I don't take issue with your opinion, I have lots of those myself. But I learned long ago: If you are going to criticise another person, take the time to be right.
None of us is perfect.
BTW, AA in Science, AS in Engineering, dropped out of college to cut grass. I guess I lost the desire. I think I need 6 credits for BS in Computer Engineering from Chritopher Newport University. I want to go back, but will probably change major to History and teach at a communtiy college at night after getting a Master's.

What's your educational background Mr. Stone? You failed to tell us this in your post. I do not believe that a person's shortcomings in grammar and spelling are a reflection on the kind of person they are and their ablility to do a good job. I certainly hope that you don't deal with your customers in a pompus manner like you are towards people in Lawnsite. My guess is probably no, because some folks feel big and bad behind a computer screen.
I graduated high school in 1994 and completed an Associate of Science Degree ('97) in general studies..not much but at least it's some kind of degree.

Pottstim, Check out Lone Star Lawns link posted at the top of the page. It is a previous discussion on the same topic and I believe Stone had replied there.
Mr. stone,
What I think is childish and silly is your posts critisizing everybody here. I don't know who is the child. You barely ever answer any of the posts that are asked. Most of your posts aren't answers, but critisism instead. Maybe I am wrong, but I think alot of people here agree.

There will be no comments from anyone about the BS, it stands for Bachelor of Science! I know y'all too well.
I usually don't agree with what Mr. Stone has to say, but he's right on here. Learn how to spell. If you don't know a word, look it up, it's called a dictionary! Also learn the difference between to and too and there, they're, and their. This is fourth grade stuff.

Please don't read any of my posts if you feel that my spelling and grammar is that bad. If you feel that anybody's english is that bad, then make a laundry list of the people that offend you. When you go to read any thread on lawn site skip all these threads or ignore them. If you feel that you are that agitated by them then don't even bother coming here.
Just a few suggestions.
Please read charles post in the off topic forum called-Forum info complaints.

I too have been offended by some of the pompous attitudes shown by some members. I have been around the block enough to know you judge a person by what they can do, not how they look and sound. I been in AA for 17 years, one of my best employees has done time, has tatoos, ugly as sin, only has a GED, but shows up every day, never misses a child support payment, (even in winter when income isn't incoming), can't even speak good english. Wonder how he'd be recieved by some of the people who haunt this discussion.

i aint gonna judge noone on here by their grammar cause i aint finished my huked on fonics course yet..........oh yeah, btw, high school education here and after that i was self educated
