Anyone know anything about the Stealth 33" commercial mower?

I would like to get a compact mower like this to use in some of my smaller gated yards. I used to use a Troy-bilt 33" that worked real good, but it was just not heavy enough for commercial work. I also liked the size. Not much bigger than a 21" mower except it is wider. And don't laugh at the Troy-bilt. When my truck was stolen that all I had to do my 40 yards with for about 3 weeks. Saved my business. :)

Thanks, Jim
Here is a link for it if anyone else is interested:

Would never laugh at you.

I have used a 33" Troybuilt since they first came out with just the dedicated mulcher deck years ago. For the last three years I have had the newer combo deck design. It fills that small backyard niche very well. Would not trade it for anything!

Sorry, I cannot help with info on a stealth 33.

the stealth looks very light duty as well. my sugestion is the ransome bobcat 32" or even 36" saw some at the minnesota state fair for like 1700 and 1800 brand new with kawasaki motors. maybe a little more money up front but well worth every penny down the road.

The Stealth is very light duty. The parts it uses are proprietary right down to the blades which are a strange breed and impossible to sharpen from what I can see. You should buy one of the mainstream mowers such as Exmark, Toro, Scag etc.

The troybilt isnt bad at all for the money less than $1500 last time I checked. I have been running solo since august using it, and do about 35 lawns a week with it! I am looking to get a 48" but still will not part with the Troybilt.

Funny you asked. As soon as I started to read your post, I looked at the turf mag. back cover and there it was. I own a 32" bunton. I like the 32", because it can fit in just about every gate there is made. I don't know how the stealth compares in price to others, but I do know the 32" is way higher in price than the 36". You might want to consider a 36", as compared to the 33 or 32. If your gates are wide enough, than it may just be cost effective to buy the 36.

I was looking at the Great Dane 32" hydro on Alamia.com just a minute ago. It's 2000$, but might be an option. I also need a 32" for some gated back yards and the hydro part would be cool since most of these yards are on the smaller side. There was also a 26" by Kee, but it looks like crapola.

Lawnboy11,

Did you happen to see the fold down wing from great dane? It folds up to be a 32" walk behind to get in gates. Then it folds down to be a 48".....(pretty cool). What a clever piece of machinery like that goes for, I don't know....

cos, thanks for the info!
I've never heard of that, but it sounds great!
I guess that's the whole idea behind this forum.
Best wishes to you too.

I have had both of my of my 33" Troybilts for a couple of years ,the dedicated mulcher and the 3 in one.Granted I am a one man show ,but have not had any problems with eitherone (knock on wood)The dedicated mulcher I will never part with tooo handy will fit just about any where, but not fast enough for bigger yards. So will sell the 3 in one in the spring,my new 48" makes up in speed for lost time

that mower had MURRAY and CRAPSMAN wrote all over it-buy a real walkbehind,i recently bought a 36 exmark belt drive and love it-would of bought the hydro, but could not see spending the extra dollars for a backyard mower, the great dane looks like an excellent deal.

Thanks for the reply's. Will look into some of the suggestions.

Like I said, I had a Troy-bilt and I really liked the compact size of it. Not much bigger than a 21" mower, but a little wider. Easy to maneuver. Some of the commercial mowers I have seen are just too long. Or at least they seem they are.

From the picture of the Stealth, it looks like the deck is a heavier than the Troy-bilt, and it also comes with a option for a Kawasaki engine. That does not sound too bad. Love my K engines.

Richard, you might be right about the blades, I would rather have them like the TB has.

Anyway their are no dealers in my immediate area that sell them, so will keep looking.

The dealer I use sells the Stealth. Made in China. I used his demo and it cut very well. I just have a thing about things made in China. They usually seem cheap to me. If 36" is too wide, and you don't want to spend the money on a 32" (or the time using a 21"), you might want to look at the Snappers. They make a very nice 26" with a Robin (6.5hp?) that may do the trick. I have a Yazoo 26" that is pretty good, but only has 1 forward speed, and since Husqvarna bought Yazoo, God only knows if they'll even make it any more.

I looked at the same products mentioned here. This what I found after extensive(understated) research. Considering build quality, ease of use, weight, maint., and price. I found commercial midsize walk behinds the better choice for me. I primarily do small to mid size residential yards.
The Stealth and Troy Bilt dont have separate wheel brakes.
I know that pros are using them but I have to believe and have been told by other pros that commercial mowers such as Emark Sapper, Bobcat, Encore ....the list goes on, are the long term choice.
With the Stealth and TroyBilt within $500 or so dollars, I feel the better comercial mowers are cost effective. Most 32 to 36 commercial can be had for $1900 to $2600.
I looked at the Snapper 26 Hi wheel and plan to purchase one. I think it is a good idea and well made. It also has a bagging attachment available.
I decided to purchase a 36 Toro Fixed Deck Gear drive. It cost me $2000 New and operates like a dream.
And if nothing else with some prime "American Grass Cutting Machinery" around, why a chinese mower.

this year i bought a 32 lesco WB. I thought it was going to be worth so i could fit into smaller, but at the end of the year it just didnt return its investment. Next season im going to sell the 32 and drop all accounts that we had to use it on. Productivity is limited and and the job profit is allways small. I would suggest getting a 48 WB and if u advertise correctly u should be abble to pick and choose what acounts u will accept to cut.

I started out with a troybilt but quickly found to problems and went back to the dealer begging for him to take it back. One was the lever that made it go. It made my hand numb and was hard to keep down. Also the blades were timed and when I hit something they would hit each other and destroy them selves. This happend several times. Now I know I was new to the business and that was four years ago. Maybe they have changed a few things since then. I did like the size of them.

We have always run 36 hydro's(don't buy a belt drive!)and are able to get them through 99% of gates. If we can't we charge people extra or get them to allow us to widen the gate. We do have a 32" exmark belt drive that we bought from another company along with some other equipment. I can honestly say that we usually avoid using the 32 whenever possible mostly because going from 36 hydro to 32 beltis like driving a mercedes all day and then taking a pinto out. If anyone is in washington and wants to buy it make me an offer. It is in great shape, could use drive belts but the kawasaki runs great.
