I don't know whats happening in your neck of the woods, but in mine gasoline has risen 25 cents per gallon over the last couple of weeks. It seemed a few years ago, prices were more stable and only went up and down a few cents throughout the year. This past year there had been a 70 cent spread approximately from about $1.29-$1.99. I have raised my prices accordingly year to year to cover the extra expense, but its hard when insurance and other expenses are rising also. I go through between 7 and 8 hundred gallons of fuel per month during the growing season. So it's scary to think of prices going through the roof. I got close once to implementing a fuel surcharge to my mowing accounts, but I don't want to if I don't have to. Has anyone heard of whats around the corner for the Spring, or am I worrying about nothing?

Does anyone have a method in place for raising rates if gas goes through the roof? Any suggestions?

Yes, Its called a Fuel Escalation Clause. Should the price of regular unleaded gas surpass $X.xx per gallon, then the cost of service shall be increased y%. Don't have the exact verbage here as its at the office on that computer.

Did you ever invoke it?

Fuel Escalation Clause...yup, have had to use it almost every year. When gas or diesel hits $1.95 per gallon, I tack it on our monthly statements.

few weeks ago gas here was 1.49, lowest I've seen here in 3 years. During the summer for about three weeks gas was up 1.89 for 87 octane and over 2.00 for premium.

I just watched a news story on CNN about gas price rises and the so called experts are predicting prices as high as $3.00 per gallon in some areas by mid-summer. Dubya and his big oil friends are taking care of business.

$1.65 Ohio, $1.96 in Chicago last week. $4.00 a gallon last time I was in Australia................we have free health care though.
Do the math $4 is cheap.

Hello guys, Here is a thought, and how I do it. I know how much fuel it takes approx. for my accounts, so when I figure I am already paying theorecticly $2.00 a gallon for gas though I'm not really paying that. So the point is I'm good until gas goes over $2.00 a gallon. Just my thoughts Tony

You guys shouldn't complain about gas prices.

74.9 cents a litre in Canada i'm paying right now..

1gallon = 3.78litres

4 x 74.9 = 2.99 a gallon I'm paying

Thereís nothing cheap about that health care. Better to go with out and be able to afford lunch then give in to some socialism health care system. What ever happened to lifeís lottery? For as many casinos as we have it never ceases to amaze me. What a bunch of pansyís we have become afraid to take a few risks in life yet that very concept Risk is why they all gamble. You know how you defeat these terrorist countries easy export liberalism. What if I do not want health care insurance can I get a card to buy gas at cost.

We in Canada have free health care as well!

Just pay a small fee for Medical Services Plan which is like $40 a month..

Well... I wouldn't call it FREE ...we pay way more tax than our friends down south.

But it is a good piece of mind when you go to a hospital for any reason and you get top notch health care and it doesn't put you in bankruptcy.

Every year I hear about how gas prices are going to be outrageous by the end of the summer, and every year that doesn't happen. I think it's all propaganda by the oil companies, trying to soften us up for when it eventually does happen. I can't stand these idiots that get interviewed on tv talking about "Well, I guess if it goes that high I'll have to pay it." Grrr. If we didn't think that way and demanded lower prices and more oil production, they wouldn't be that high and we wouldn't HAVE to pay it. It's about time we started drilling our own oil, and looking for alternative energy sources so we are not such bit.ches to the Arab Oil cartels.

I for one am not happy about the higher prices, and I'm definitely going to include that gas clause this year. What are the typical extra charges per account for those that do the clause?

:D

Also dont have a minimum wage of $6, people fired at will, untold number of kids living in poverty, no public transport, shiity schools, shitty roads, should I go on.

Curious what you have "got" for your cheap gas?

ps. If people werent so sh.it scared of being laid off every 5 minute's they would spend more on landscaping, take out larger mortgages and equity loans....Or is it a philosophy of screwing the poor, uneducated and or black guy.

Did you just say they donít take out larger loans like it was a bad thing? People go to far in debt as it is. Why would it be good to see more people mortgage their future? As for being laid off I agree it sucks but where do you get off thinking that us business owners have only one obligation in life to give other people employment!! Thatís an added benefit but itís not the reason WE RISK EVERY THING WE HAVE AND OWN TO START A BUSINESS.
No sooner then we begin to show a small profit then someone sticks the hand in our pockets demanding some new tax or fee. What has cheap gas bought me how about a fighting chance to make my dreams come true. If I were spending 300 a week per crew just in gas I would be laying them off.

Also dont have a minimum wage of $6, people fired at will, untold number of kids living in poverty, no public transport, shiity schools, shitty roads, should I go on.

Can you I donít know what part of the country your talking about but it sure isnít where I happen to live. I like my roads and my little town spends 57 million a year on schools and yes there are busses for those who want them too. And all that with out 4 dollar a gallon gas go figure. Also your min way is wrong itís around 7 here. But what do you say we make it 10 wait how about 100 you know we could make it a law that minimum wage is 1000 per hour. What changes absolutely nothing the dollar just deflates and 25 dollar lawn cuts are now 3500 and new trucks are now 20 million and oh yes your rent on the slum 25000 per month. Do you not get it its an illusion raising the rate changes nothing everything else just goes up. The only thing that does change is short term the poor that you claim to love lose many of their jobs till the economy stabilizes its self again.
