That'd be a foot deep!:D

But I'm with you on mowing price, about $75/acre/cut.
that "complex" sounds rather complex.

Dunno about weed & feed and flowers. It'd depend on how much of what.

I've been going easy on mulch. As much as 4" ACCUMULATION. Applied an inch or 2 at a time. Once or twice a year. When it totals 4" rake it out.
We had considerable trouble last year with mulch that was too deep. (Not my installation) There were mushrooms everywhere, and it STUNK! All moldy and rotten.
We raked it out and installed an inch or two of new, and problem was solved. But mold's probably not the problem in OK that it is here.

I agree on the mowing price.
Maybe cut back on the mulch, or do it 2 applications. Like David said, you don't want to lay it on too thick.

I would say no more than 2 inches of mulch. And the fert i would at least charge $115 an acre if wanna make a little money on fert. Other wise u arent gonna make much money doing fert. Its gonna cost u $50 just for the fert per acre.

$5380 mulch

so since this a year round contract i should multiply the amount of the mow times what 36 or 40 then give them the price??

THATS WHAT I WOULD DO,$715 TIMES 36=25,740.00
THATS 2,145.00 A MONTH JUST FOR CUTTING.

$1532.00 per cut base on 41 visits. That includes every week during the growing season and during the off season 2x per month for leaves and the like.
$960.00 per app.
seasonal color in annuals $625.00 each planting. More if you use per. flowers.
And thats using 9" centers.
7684 sq ft of mulch at 4" would be 95 cu. Yds. $$7,125.00. But are you cleaning it all out and replacing or just maintaining at 4"?
If just maintaining at 4" you would need less.

what is the growing season where you are? I only get avg. 25 cuts per season where I am. How many times do you cut your own lawn will help figure the number of cuts in your area. Will there be a need for leaf cleanup?

wrestlingcoach,
I don't know of any company around here that mows 36 or 40 times per year. Check your private messages and get back to me. I can help you get a little more specific for our area. What some of these guys can charge in their area is not possible here for a site of that size. Get back to me.

Factoring in:
a. It includes no flowers and fert, and is just for the mowing.
b. OK isn't exactly the financial capital of the nation.
c. Warm season grasses usually come out cheaper than cool season grasses per cut.

With all that factored in you're still in the "LOOSING YOUR SHIRT" price range.

It's like you left a digit out of your post. See that little space between the $ and the 325? Ain't there supposed to be a number in there?

And what are you going to do once a month? Bill them?
Because you sure can't mow a lawn once per month!

If you needed to mow the lawn at the school where you worked in order to keep your teaching job there, you couldn't do it for that. Or even break even. Counting your labor as a free donation.

This thread has lost all credibility.

You sooooooooooo don't know what you're doing!

Dave

And what's with the CAPS LOCK? Is somebody playing a joke?
Because looking at it, your second post looks nothing like your first post.

david haggerty,
On the $325 once a month, he is talking about how much to charge for shrub trimming and how often to do it. And if he is talking about 36 or 40 mowings he sure couldn't mow just once per month can he? You might want to reread that one.
