I have a Scag tiger cub 52" that I am wanting a stripe kit for. My dealer will sell me one made for my Scag for $300, but that seems a little steep. I've heard of the chain type stripers, do they get caught on obstacles in the lawn. Any info. on homemade stripe kits or manufacturers of stripe kits would be greatly appreciated.

Go to this post. I made one just like this for my SSZ and it works OK. I really don't see much difference in stripes since I added the kit. It cost me about $50.

Your striping kit is leaking.

Does the chains stripe the same as roller?

Well it certainly was an issue for me when I was scalping my yards BEFORE I got the floating deck.

the chain is prob not good for the turf. It prob damages the blades kinda like the same effects of dull blades.

The chains were never a problem on the machine or turf.

I built one exactly like that for my Toro ZTR. It worked great, until I found out the hard way the chains were just small enough to slip down into the holes of the metal screen on my trailers ramp. Been using it for a few days before I had any problems. Then I was loading the Z and going up the ramp, next thing I know Im not moving. Bent the angle iron and bent the area of metal guard around the engine where it was attached.

My Tiger Cub stripes pretty good without the kit on. This is a small field at a farm that was mostly weeds!

and another from a different farm.

This is with the kit on in my back yard. Don't mind the mess. :)

I honestly don't use the kit that much as it hangs up trying to load it on the trailer. Make sure you have the correct pitch on the deck and it will stripe well without a kit. All the pics I posted were cut at 3".....

Wow, can you say "photoshopped"?

Photo shopped. Yes I can say that and yes the last pic is chopped up good. :)
Here's a pic opposite of the chopped pic. And the original. I'm thinking about using the chopped pic scaled down to use as a business card with lettering overlay.

For the record, I didn't touch the pic, I asked Lee (the guy offering free photo shop service) to roll with it and that's what he came up with.
