I'd like to see some pictures of trucks and trailers. I am looking into getting my stuff lettered next year and would like to see some examples. I already have a logo and would like to see everyones size, shape, color scheme's etc. Thanks guys.
Here's the truck I'm using. Feel free to give me suggestions on the size/color/location.

Heres mine, I didnt want to put a huge logo on my truck, I was going for name regonition. They can look in the phone book if they didnt see my phone #.
01-29-2004, 12:44 PM
Nice logo Ryan, how much did it run ya
Only one response? I know there are more out there. lil' help lil' help
01-29-2004, 01:12 PM
First off IMO you need to paint the truck white. I do not think lettering/graphics show up well on red.
01-29-2004, 02:05 PM
Avery's got a good point, red aint real good in showing up loudly. I lettered my truck primarilly for appearance (image) reasons. I havent the need to advertise that much as we stay quite busy in season times. Here are some pictures of red trucks w/logos though.

I diagree with lettering on red trucks. The best looking trucks in my area are all red with a white logo. Also look at Jim Lewis' trucks -- they are red and very sharp.

Signs on trailer
01-29-2004, 04:38 PM
The biggest outfit around here has about 30 red trucks and enclosed trailers. The lettering is green and black with white outlining.
01-29-2004, 08:00 PM
Ya' know, it seems as if it's easier to have good signs on Fords and Chevys. My Dodge, below, has contours that have caused my larger magnetic signs to come off of the doors. Arrgh! Some lettering doesn't show up that well on darker vehicles, such as red, but Turf Pro's logo shows up real well on that white truck.
01-29-2004, 09:06 PM
Criticle - What size lift did you put on that Dodge of yours? Looks real nice. And how big is that toolbox you have on there, and how much does it cut down on your bed space? Great lookin truck.
01-29-2004, 10:11 PM
Here is the back of my truck
01-29-2004, 10:17 PM
and here is the side of my truck
Here's a pic of mine. Kind of plain, but you can read it from far away.
01-29-2004, 11:56 PM
The posts showing lettering on dark colored trucks, paticularly red, prove my point. There are tons of company's here in all kinds of service business's running red vehicles. That does not mean it is the best color for a truck. Graphics show up best on a white truck.
01-30-2004, 11:00 AM
I would have to agree with Avery and for this reason. What color pages are used in books and why?

Because when the printing press first came out (way back when), color paper wasn't invented yet.;)
By the way, nice trucks everyone. I think they all look great. I have a red truck, that's what I have to work with, so I have to make it work somehow
01-30-2004, 12:50 PM
Around here we have two big companys with red trucks one has white trim the other has white and yellow.Work with what you have.
01-30-2004, 03:37 PM
Great looking truck! When shopping for tractors I always thought it was strange when they had folding roll bars, but now I see why.
Good luck in 04'
01-30-2004, 09:15 PM
I have to tell you ... I think your truck is just ,... BAM!
01-30-2004, 09:32 PM
I disagree with avery about the red trucks. There's a big company around here with red trucks and red enclosed trailers. They use white lettering and they look great!
I think you should go with big lettering like GLS's set up, down the whole side of the truck. Very sharp.
01-31-2004, 09:04 AM
This is our logo.Simple and to the point. I'm lettering the trailer the same in spring.
01-31-2004, 09:11 AM
Trying to make that a little clearer for you.
01-31-2004, 12:38 PM
just cuts, that's a slick lookin truck. i like the green grass on the blue background.
about how much are you guys paying?
01-31-2004, 09:25 PM
Here is the one on the back of the trailer. Excuse the mess, was cleaning out the garage. This sign was $25.00, truck doors and back window was about $85.00 or so. Will try to get pics of those soon.
02-01-2004, 06:04 PM
Here's my new sign for the trailer, I got it done for 50 bucks.
02-02-2004, 02:20 PM
BrianK10, I have a standard Delta toolbox on my truck. I keep a trailer spare under the toolbox and have enough room to dump all grass clippings into the truck bed, but I work alone and at times I have taken the box off when I needed the full bed. For sure, I'd take it off for an EZ-dump! The truck is lifted several inches, and has an air lift system and Jake brakes.
02-02-2004, 10:20 PM
I paid $165.00 for both doors with green logo and the phone number on both fenders.
02-02-2004, 10:25 PM
The place is called FAST SIGHNS.
02-03-2004, 05:44 PM
this is our irrigation service van
02-03-2004, 05:58 PM
Just put logos on this truck, lettering to follow.
02-04-2004, 11:33 AM
I'm having my layout prepared right now. It is costing me $40 for the design. Here are the first 2 versions he has given me. He forgot to add the website, so he is working on a new one.
02-04-2004, 11:35 AM
02-04-2004, 12:48 PM
Version 2 on the white truck is sweet.
02-04-2004, 03:47 PM
I like version one looks cool. You can really see the numbers.:blob4:
02-04-2004, 04:49 PM
88 chevy shortbox
02-04-2004, 04:50 PM
better pic of my sign
02-04-2004, 04:54 PM
paid $125.00 for both doors, commercial residential on both sides of box, and all of this on the tailgate.
What does E.L.I.T.E. stand for? Signs look good.
Soupy: I like the first version. However, I would get rid of the below "LAWN". I also think it might look better if you got rid of the small graphic above the company name and make the company name/slogan larger. Just my opinion. I really like it though, looks great.
02-04-2004, 05:27 PM
I like the design but it looks like a pickle wearing a visor and glasses? Is he your new mascott? LOL. J/K. I thought you had really cool graphic before on youre red trailer?
02-04-2004, 05:43 PM
Soupy - the first one is sweet dude. the second version kinda reminds of something you'd see on the side of a computer tech truck. go with the first, looks great
thanks for all the posts guys.
02-04-2004, 09:53 PM
Hey ken.....THat looks good and catchy...anything on the tailgate.....
02-04-2004, 10:47 PM
Yes, we are working on tailgate sign and I'm having 50 lawn signs (both sides) made.
I'm hoping all this pays off. If I don't see a return on this money, I might just have the shortest marriage ever :)
02-05-2004, 12:20 PM
Koster, that's a nice setup for irrigation work. Actually, all of the ones I've seen here are very nice. Kinda makes me want to go hide my mag signs... Oye vey!
I was just thinking, the back gate on my trailer is already very heavy and if I'd ever put a sign on it I'd want to make sure it was made out of something lightweight.
Soupy, numero uno does it for me. Professional with a touch of character... When you first started asking about your logo I wasn't so sure, but as far as what looks good on that type of truck I'd say the first design... and I tend to agree with GLS as far as doing away with the numbers below LAWN.
02-05-2004, 01:04 PM
Hey GLS (E.njoying L.ife I.n T.he E.nd), to make along story short this started off as a family slogan, we were like in the end when it's all said and done we will be enjoying life, we started saying Elite this and Elite that, we even have this tatted on our right arms. And no it's not gang affiliated. My brothers company is called E.L.I.T.E. Corp. It's a family thing.
02-06-2004, 06:53 PM
i think that's pretty cool elite
02-11-2004, 08:41 PM
I agree, BAM. Simple, stands out and gets message across.
02-14-2004, 03:23 PM

Paradise Landscapes.. i love my light bar, i have picked up atleast 10 customers from them ....they start by asking about them and i leave with a new job! (little kids go crazy wheni turn them on, i would say their brighter then the police!)

02-23-2004, 12:06 PM
Here is a picture of the back window on my camper shell. It was about $75.
Sweet Lightbar! What brand is it? I don't see any LEDs though, did I miss something?
the brand i dont recall off the top of my head, but it was bought and installed by the same people who do the police around here,... very happy with them
their not LED (i have only saw them for the blinking arrows)
i will look and see what brand they are when i get a few mins.

In Ohio you can't get Vanity plates on commercial vehicles
Hey Critical Care, now all you need on that Dodge of yours is a Icom IC-706 and a 2-meter rig.
03-06-2004, 04:22 PM
This may be an idea that can save you guys some money. I have my signs made on aluminum sheets. I drill out the holes and rivet them to my trailers. This way, as I replace trailers, I can remove them and put them on the new trailer. Then I can just put a rivet back in the empty holes on the old trailer. Here is a pic of the signs I started out with. Just put them on a used trailer I picked up. This is my old style with the white background. It's easy to read, but I like the black design I use now which I will post below.
03-06-2004, 04:26 PM
This is the new design. Which do you like?
03-07-2004, 11:17 AM

03-10-2004, 02:06 PM
Indy...hate to tell you, but if you paid $75 for just the back window, you got ripped. I had my entire F-250 lettered on BOTH sides for $100

03-10-2004, 06:36 PM

03-10-2004, 11:51 PM
I put the lettering on the back of the trailer today.
03-11-2004, 10:46 AM
Whoops, I take that back, I lied. I forgot that I had my truck done in 2 parts. First, the cab...Meadowbrook Landscaping, the pine tree, and palm tree, and my number....both sides were $100......A few weeks later I had the boxes done, another $100. Sorry about that, I forgot that I'm blonde and can't remember what happened 5 minutes ago, let alone 5 months ago. :p
03-11-2004, 10:54 AM
nice looking rigs everybody. keep em coming,
03-11-2004, 02:03 PM
N1ALX... you're right. I should put at least a two meter rig in the truck. Got a kenwood but it's been acting up lately. A little afraid to put hf into the truck, and if I had it installed I'd probably never get any work done! How about you?
03-12-2004, 05:30 PM
little too far away...I'll take a better one this weekend!
I keep saying that...but I'm too busy!
03-12-2004, 08:27 PM
Mighty nice rig.....I know how you get business, drive up to a homeowner, they take 1 look at your truck and then they go blind, so they hire you! j/k! Nice truck though, really jumps out, your lettering guy/girl did a great job. Also, do you have yard signs made up? If so, do they keep the same general look as your truck?
03-12-2004, 11:59 PM
Had logo designed last year, included 30 smaller lawn signs, design on CD Rom, ownership rights & large Lawn Sign.
I am now going to be using it for advertising campaign in local papers.
03-13-2004, 12:02 AM
This was a test ad designed for local paper....Don't like the word"lawn cuttings" so I tweaked a few things....I think it's simple and to the point, will hopefully direct savvy customers to website for info.

Keep them coming!
02-09-2005, 03:28 PM
I think GLS's blue truck w/ those big silver numbers and letters looks the best. Its simple, clean, to the point, and you can read it from a mile away.
