hey guys,
Did a search on this but didn't really get any concrete answers....and im not looking to hear that I should get the biggest trailer I can, but I am just curious to konw about what i can fit on a 10' long trailer....can 2 walkbehinds fit on this...I do not have any mowers yet, so I cant really get a good idea. I will be doing about 6 - 10 lawns, and am only going to use one mower, but just in case for some reason i have to cart a second walk behind around, i would just like to know. Gonna get a 52" scag hydro walk behind. Thanks

You'll be diappointed with a 10' Go 12' minimum.

It will be very tight! I too would atleast go with a 12 minimum. If you can afford it and plan to grow in the least little bit go with a 16ft minimum!!! I have mostly 16fts and wish I had even bigger, and we only carry 2 walkbehinds but when you add the push mower, push blower and some other things you loose space fast!

Ok guys, so the answer is YES, 2 will fit (even though i have no plans of getting 2 mowers).....for my 6 lawns, one mower is good enough for me, I just wanted to know in case i had to pick up a loaner and drop one off or something like that.....so I am assuming that 2 will fit in a pinch, gate up and all

Yes, I would think so, and if they have a problem fitting forward you could always back them on or turn them sideways.

If they have velkys on them they may not fit it is really that tight. You have exactly 5 feet for each mower certain brands may fit and certain brands may not. My suggestion to you buy your trailer to fit your mowers not your mowers to fit your trailer. Get a tape measure and head on down to your power equipment dealer and find out exactly how long the mower is caster to handle bars assume you will want to not have to walk your whole life so the $200 for a velky will be something your do soon ask to see one and measure that. Mowers will over lap a little but with the back one you get no such benefit and if the front one has the ability to ride it will remove most of that benefit when its folded up as well. If the numbers are over 10 feet you got your answer.

It depents on the mowers. what deck sizes adn brand, Hydro or belt (this all effect the length of the mower). The best thing to do is draw a 6'x10' rectangle on the ground and try to fit the two mowers in it. remember you have to be able to close the gate. I am going with a 12 ft long trailer for my two walkbehinds(48"hustler superwb and 36' lesco belt wb) and it is going to be very tight. I might have to take the sulky off every time or turn the 36" sideways.

Yes, it should fit. I carried two scags with sulkies on a 14' with more then four feet left over. I was able to chain up the sulky on the front mower so the rear mower went as far under the controls as possible. I didn't have to chain up the rear sulky but I suspect you will need to.

Gonna be a tight fit, my advice go with a 12foot trailer, less head ache and the cost shouldnt be much, turning a mower side ways or having to back one on and have handle bars hanging over is a drag and something to walk into and get hurt, my 2 cents worth

I out grew my 6X12 first year. I will be buying at least a 16ft late this year. I attempt not to have anything in the bed of my truck.

I have run a 6x10 for years. In the past it has had a 36" Toro and a 48" Toro plus a 21"er......
Now it will have the 36", and the new Stander 61"....I am hoping to not need the 21" anymore......
I also have 2- 5 gal. gas cans, 2 trimmers, a handheld blower and BP blower, a bagger....and some hand tools from time to time...
6x10 is plenty for my operation....although I may buy an enclosed one in the near future.....I am getting tired of loading and unloading all the time...in that case I may move up to a 6x12.

I have a 6x12 trailer, and there is a 2 ft wide tool box on the front. I haul a 52 inch cut and a 48 inch turf tracer. The turf tracer is out on sideways. This year I am wanting to get a 7 x 16 enclosed for all the benifits associated with them. I would go bigger at least to a 6x12. As you get more jobs and the bigger toys, you will be wishing that you had bigger. But the two scags might go sideways, you would have to measure to see if they would fit in sideways though.

i had a 10' years ago and was very happy to sell it. wasn't enough room. i too prefere everything on the trailer instead of the truck. also it didn't pull as well as a tandem axel. now i have a 12' mulch, 16 and 18' mowing trailers.

It's up to you totally. I have a 6.5*10 now and it's the absolute best size for me. But it took me 2 other trailers to go through to get it there. My first trailer was a 4*8. Yep, it was small, but all I had was a 32". I picked up a 42" Z and of course that wouldn't fix on a 4*8. I had also picked up a 16*7 for a great deal and sure it fit both a 4*8 and a 16*7 but the thing was HUGE. Parking was a *****, etc etc. And I have no plans of going full time, so I didn't need a 16*7. It was like towing around a 1/2 court basketball park. <G>
I measured out real careful my mowers on the ground with masking tape marking and realized a 6*10 would do me and my lawns fine. I can get both mowers on and off QUICK. Went to the trailer place, they had a 6.5* 10. Great, i could use the extra 6 inches in width. It's the length that makes parking harder in tighter spots, etc.. So for me, I have a 6.5* 10 and it's a blast. Trimmer rack mounted on the passenger side and a large toolbox mounted on the front area of the trailer.
Good luck. But don't buy a 12' or 16' trailer if you don't need it. But them if you are going to grow. But if you're not, then grow slowly.

Way back in the day... I used a 5x10 open trailer. I carried a Lesco 36, Scag Hydro 52, Billy Goat 8hp blower, McLane edger, and a 21" John Deere trim mower in it. It was a tight fit, but it did fit.

thanks for the replies guys,
just got a 10' today...it was a good deal, and only needing one mower for under 10 lawns (gonna be a teacher in the fall) i figured this would be perfect....it wont take up much room in the yard and i can hide it in trees so it cant be seen when pulling up to the house. Thanks though, for all the suggestions....if i had plans to grow, I would without a doubt get a bigger trailer, but this seems to be perfect for me....if i need a bigger one in the future, ill just sell this one and pick up a bigger one, but I think this should do fine...thanks again for all the suggestions
There is hardly any difference in price from 10-12 feet. I have a 12 and haul a 60 ZTR and a 48" WB. I have to turn the WB sideways to have enough room. You can make just about anything work if you try hard enough but is it worth the headache? So you only have one mower, what about needing to carry other tools like bagger, sweeper, blower, push mower, gas cans, etc.? Are 6 lawns even enough to justify staying in business? Think about everything first, then make your decision.

yeah, ive thought about it....gonna be teacher in the fall....work the same landscaper ive been workign for the past 6 years during the summer, i work for myself one day doing 6 or so lawns, this way i can still handle it during the school year......can fit a mower, blowers, baggers, tools all on trailer....will be perfect...its not the end of the world if i find it to be too small, can just sell it and get a bigger one....
