I went to the Scag dealer today. I had to wait 20 minutes to get any help what so ever. When I finally got a price a thought it was on the highside. He qouted me $2700 for a 36" wb beltdrive fixed deck. It had a 12.5 kawi. Thats after the $2900 price to begin with. I think this is high, but Im not sure. He went on to tell me eXmark is "junk" (b/c he does not carry them). Tell me if this price is out of line.

Back this past summer, I was quoted $2495 for a belt drive 36" Scag at the local dealer. I also priced the 48" belt drive, and they wanted $2999 for it. Both of these prices were full retail and they would not budge at all on price, so I found the door and went down and bought my Toro, which I am very happy with. So, I would say that $2700 seems a bit high.

Yea, that's high. I can get a Scag 48 with a 15 kaw. for $2750
But that might be the going price in your area.
Scag AND Exmark are good mowers.

Scag has a promotion out currently $2549.00 for a 36" w/ 15hp Kohler. And I can always get it for cheaper than that. :cool2:

You may want to look at a Gravely. It is very easy to adjust their fixed decks to whatever height you want. I think their 36" are arround 2500.00. I ran across a 48" the other day that was last years model for 2799.00. I may be buying it tomorrow.

that sounds a bit pricey vadeere. with a 14hp 36" scag, my dealer said 2300. now any dealer is gonna say that the other mower is junk. well i love scags. they're my favorite and i've run alot of different machines. dxie, grasshopper, you name it man. but if my dealer was crappy, i'd buy something else. scag is gaining ground in in the circle of municipalties due to their super rugged design and longevity. that's why i use them too. but i drove an extra 15 miles to the next dealer cause of service. and exmark is not junk. not my favorite, but not junk. neither is grasshopper, dixie chopper, toro, and others. so if the dealer is willing to give good service, then there are plenty of good machines out there.

The Quality of your dealer is more important than the color of the mower. I do not currently own Exmark but have in the past and it is not junk. This dealers attitude and pricing are excellent reasons to go some where else for your equipment.

This is the same dealer that we get our John Deere 235 serviced at. He has been less than ethical in a number of dealings. He went back on a warranty for a used trac-vac that was over priced to begin with. End of the year services have ran well into the hundreds of dollars. Tore the hell out of my tailgate when one of his flunkies loaded the rider into my back of my truck. Some might criticize bc I havent found another dealer, but the problem is he owns all the Deere dealerships in a 40 mile radius, he is the only game in the region. The more I think about I am going across town to the eXmark dealer who carries more brands and has a better reputation.
