Ok this past summer I tried working in jeans and about the 4th week of working my inner thighs were burning so bad I had to hold my soda between my leggs to keep it cool.

I tried some other pants but they were too thin and the rocks while weedeating tore up my shins. So what type of pants do you guys wear?  lol

I wear cheap cotton khaki's. Wal-mart has some fairly cheap ones as does Old Navy.

I wear inexpensive jeans (old navy) and khaki shorts on hot summer days that don't involve a lot of heavy trimmer work.

Turf9,

You mow in shorts? You gotta be a viking LOL. My leggs would be killing me.

after the first week or so of wearing shorts, your legs become accustomed to getting pelted by rocks and stones. it hurts for a bit, but after awhile, you just get over it. i typically wear lightweight khaki pants though. some of our contracts state all employees must wear pants.

I have a uniform service through cintas. they provide my guys with 5 pair of pants 5 pair of shorts 5 shirts 1 hat 1 jacket all with company logo. They come by every week and pick up dirty and leave clean uniforms. Most of the guys where shorts when mowing I know when I was out there mowing I wore shorts to hot for jeans, But I also have the scares on my shins to prove it.

I wear shorts from mid April-Oct. Most the trimming is fine in shorts but when I am trimming an area that has some gravel or little rocks I put on some chaps. They work great and are easy on easy off. I got them from W.E. Chapps.

If any of my guys come to work in shorts. They don't work that day. This is in my hand book that everyone gets.

why shorts let the area in question breath and the gators protect you shins and keep the crap out of you boots.

Colder days i usually wear carhartts, or cheap uniform pants. Any other time i wear shorts as much as i can. Yea you may get stung a tad bit with the trimmer, but so what. Feels better that being hot and miserable all day long.

light green dickie work pants, cool fitting but protective pants.
You can usually pick them up at a Wal-Mart or a Work-n-gear store or online.

Dickies work pants in cooler weather. Khaki shorts in warmer weather and I carry shin guards for trimming, the type you would use for soccer.

I always wear Carhart shorts (except January). If I don't come home bleeding than my wife figures that I was playing golf. Shorts and my bloody shins let her know that I was working.

I was thinking of wearing a thong to get the extra female bizz. Sure it may hurt a little but we could get maybe 20 more a lawn.

We wear logo-embroidered tan polo shirts and green carhart cotton duck pants all season long. We will be getting new hats in from a company that we liked at the expo. Workboots are required but our employees provide those for themselves. We find everyone to have a different preference for boots.

Nothing a little Gold Bond won't cure! I can't mow a day in hot weather without 'bonding' first.

I've experienced the same problem when wearing pants on a hot day. The sweat causes the pant to rub the skin raw. My solution is to wear a pair of cotton boxer shorts under the pants. They are soft and long enough to protect the inner thy from chaffing.

Ditto! I cycle through a couple of different colors until it gets cold then the long chocolate brown pants come out (along with the Grudens raingear).

Heavy-duty khakis. I found some by Dickies at a local Army/Navy that are cut a lot larger in the legs and ars than the regular ones. They look good, are cool and are tough as nails.

I had to wear pants everyday until I got my new Stihl FS85. The old POS Homelite I had would just slaughter your legs wit flying debris. I wear Carhartt pants and short. They are a little expensive, but they last forever and are very durable.
