While i was chatting today to you guys a reporter called me and asked if he could talk to me in regards to posting some nformation about lawn care programs and what we as companys should do to get customers yards looking beautiful in the spring. I talked to him as if he was a customer wanting to spend money LOL. He came out here to take a picture of our me and my truck. It is for a article he is writing in regards to lawn care and a spring expo, He asked for my name, company spelling, and where we perform services. It comes out in march, It is for a larger paper in the community. Maybe that will drum up some business?

Sounds like it could be some good advertising there. You should get some calls. You get your name and picture in a large paper in the month of March and best thing about it is it was free. Good luck

Now now eric stay out of trouble lol. We had a larger business near here the owner would get dwi's all the time finally he lost it one night drinking with an employee and his employee ended up dead at his house. Well i think its still at trial but no one will ever do business with them again! If he ever gets out of jail? Their is more to the story but his story sounds fishy.

Congrats! You can't beat free advertising like that!
Last year we got a killer TV spot 3 times in one day on the largest News Channel in Portland. It was great P.R. I know for sure we got one excellent customer from it. But that's about it. But tons of our existing customers, suppliers, friends, etc. saw it. I still get comments about it to this day.
A few years back we got a small spot in a big newspaper. But that didn't seem to generate much interest. That was several years ago though and we weren't nearly as well known.
But it's all good! Congrats!

I do stay out of trouble, it is those crazy dwi folks that run into trees and other people that keep me busy. You wouldn't believe that stupid things that get done and people wind up in the back of my ambulance. LOL it is s great time LOL!

There's no such thing as bad publicity, especially when it's free! We had a local newspaper "extra" weekend edition spot like that last year. They had a spring gardening page, and I got two columns of print, plus pics and logo for free! They only called me and another LCO I am friends with to contribute to the piece. We now advertise regularly in that paper.

REALLY??? Hmmm.... so if you opened up the local paper tomorrow morning and the headline read,
"Local Company - Impact Landscaping - Indicted in Fraud Charges by the IRS; Customers and the government both say owner was stealing from them."
You'd jump for joy thinking of all the free publicity you were getting? :p :D :)

I meant free publicity of a positive nature...
02-23-2004, 02:47 AM
I am sure you did. I just couldn't resist clowning on someone who shows off their family picture of the 20th annual Morgantown WV Darth Vader & Storm Trooper Pancake Breakfast. :D :D :D

Haha, Jim. It was actually a trade show gimmick set up by the event promoter, the pancake breakfast was the next day.
