Hey Chuck, Exmark put up a Lawnsite.com link on their site! That's great! Now, if people notice it, we'll get bunches of new members! I wonder how they found out about this site? I guess this site is growing. Make room for others!

I forgot to tell you guys where it was! It's on the main page (homepage) and it's in the blue margin on the left. Where it says X The Resource, click on it and it takes you to a links page. Lawnsite is under "Landscaping Forums" almost at the bottom of the page. The description it says underneath the link is "Great site where landscape professionals talk about the latest industry issues."
Speaking of forums, if any of you don't know about the Heavy Equipment forum Chuck has set up for us dirt lovin' brutes, check it out. We don't have many people posting there. Just thought I'd point out that its there.
Happy posting!
Me thinks ExMark is recognizing the validity of this site. I for one learn something every time I visit-Hats of to Eric and Thank you for maintaining the site. It would be interesting to see some engineers from ExMark or Walker get involved in some of the ongoing debates on who gots da best mower!

Exmark links to LawnSite because they deem it in their interest to do so. Exmark declined a link to turfquip.com citing 'conflict of interest'. They would prefer you not be fully informed decision makers. Hmmm...must be democrats.
Seriously though...business decisions both. Acknowledged, accepted and understood. Flattering too, in a convoluted sort of way.

I may be mistaken but I think I found the infant stages of this site thru a now missing link from an equipment brokers site. I don't know why it vanished but I sure am glad it "was" there.
I can't seem to remember the site.
Must be the Democratic haze in my head.
MOW ED, you're thinking about http://www.hallofforums.com, which is the link that I had in the first place back in June. The last time I check http://www.hallofforums.com didn't work.

I originally found hallofforums, or its predecessor, thru a link at some canadian e-dealer of small equipment which I found out about thru the gardenway forums.

MOW ED,
Your comments reach me on a couple of levels.
Back when Lawnicure was a handful of guys, turfquip stepped up with a front page link, bringing dozens of now senior members(like you) into the fold.
Throughout the progression from Lawnicure to HallofForums, through months of Global Reaction, and now LawnSite, the finest Green Industry Forum Site on the web(sorry Phil), save for a few months, turfquip.com has been there steadfastly introducing new members.
At one point, I became concerned about conflict of interest since obviously folks can advertise used stuff here for free, while turfquip.com charges. On a certain level, it remains a conflict but I believe that the advertisers that continue to have faith in turfquip benefit by the flow of new visitors LawnSite brings through the banner exchange we now have. It's a little complicated, but I can site a direct (short term) negative cash flow impact to turfquip ownership, but a direct positive impact to those who chose to advertise there. Keep in mind visitors to turfquip come from all different directions, including some of the highest search engine rankings using several logical phrases like "used turf equipment" and "used commercial mowers", etc, etc.
What baffles me, is the reaction or should I say non-reaction of manufacturers to the turfquip business model. Two forms: 1) Ignore it and it will go away. and 2) Lets add used equipment to "our" web site or create another web address where "we" will sell used equipment.
Take for example, the Strategic Partnership plan at turfquip.com. For a fraction of what it costs mfg's to promote their products at even the smallest Expo event, turfquip can support every dealer within that MFG's network; advertise EVERY piece of used equipment within their respective inventories - with photos. Again, a one time yearly fee from the MFG supports every dealer they have. Wouldn't you guys appreciate that? On a local level, dealers liquidate used inventory faster, improving the likelihood of a 'new' sale. The advantages are numerous - way too lengthy to expand on here.
Seems like a win-win situation to me. This industry amazes me sometimes.
Thanks MOW ED for getting my juices flowing this morning.

Exmark has known about this site for sometime. The factory rep told me that they keep an eye on this site to get ideas and watch for problems with their product. They are very concerned about their product reliability and they watch this site to make sure people are happy with their products.
Why advertise with so many happy exmark users, no need for some fancy sales pitch when you have happy LCO's.
