I'm curious to know how many mile radius do you have as your service region? Any how many office locations do you have within that region? We service a 60 mile radius with 2 office locations.

All accounts are within 20 miles from my office. Got rid of the PITA that were beyond that. This year will be more productive.

Just because others are doing doesnt make it intelligent or the best thing to do.

We were at a 31 mile radius last year, but have cut it down to approx 10-11 miles.

Windshield time last year killed us. So I ended up dropping approx 17 customers in the situation. We only kept one because he suggested that he would pay $23 more just for we would do his services, so we agreed. (but I am the one that is going to do the services, not my employees)

we dont have a radius that we go by. We just hit towns down the 4 lane highway. we travel 20 miles and that's all for lawn service. I'll travel 40 miles for landscape installs.

Our shop is at one end of town and we start with the jobs farthest away in morning, each day . Farthest out is 32 miles. Other days most are 15 miles away or less. On one of our days we do a 750 unit apartment complex that will take the whole day.

No wonder some of you have to charge extra when fuel prices go up.
The farthest I drive is about 10 miles.

I'm w/ mowinmoney. W/all accounts (fert, mow, snow) we have around 275 ... all w/in an 8-10 mile radius. I don't go to "new neighborhoods" even in my existing radius unless we're getting 2 or more at a stop anymore. Just can't handle many more. Maybe I can grow a little more this year .. we'll see.

turfdude, that is what we have been kind of doing as well, trying to get more customers in our current neighborhoods than expanding to new ones.

Regular lawn customers are under 4-5 mile radius.

I will drive a couple extra miles for one time services where I'll be there for a couple hours or make a couple hundred dollars.

Very densely populated area.

Last year we had a group of accouts that were about 60 miles away. We kept them for a couple of years because we could take one day a week and do all those accounts and they all paid well. We've dropped those this year and now everything's within about 25 miles. We're VERY rural here; about 50,000 people in 900 square mile county.
