I have been looking at Z's lately, and decided I will by and Exmark when and if i purchase one. My question is that It would be used mostly on residential yards less than 15k square feet. I was thinking about the 44", but the 48 or 52" may be about the same. We have a lot of hills in alabama so not all yards are flat. I just thought the 44 may be easier to maneuver in hilly, tight spaces. Any thoughts from experience would be appreciated.

I don't mean huge hills, i just mean a lot of yards around here are not flat and seem have a lot of tight spots that may be hard to maneuver.

52 HP can hold hills. I mean hills. Anyway...the 52" is perfect for residential lawns. I'm mostly in residential work and I've bought 2 52" hp's over the last few years.

I say always go with a 60"- it has a wider wheelbase to handle hills, and being a zero turn it has the same maneuverabilty.
Always go exmark. the sixty inch cuts much more area divided out over a day/week

War Eagle! I have found that all z mowers hold a hill to an extent, but when you get into a full size mower(lazer z, turf tiger, john deere 737/757) it has better traction.

Thanks guys. I'm not overly concerned about the hills. I have a wb and push if i can't ride. I'm just trying to see what size woud be the best for Residentials with small hills and tight areas 44, 48, or 52.

I have a the 52" hp and love It. I would say if you have a wb and a push to do the area's that "might" not be able to be done with the z, go with the 52". Plus resale will be alot easier with a 52" vs a 48" especially in a Z.

id go with the 52..the 48 has very little trim side and the 44 HAS NONE.i had a 48 and it was hard around landcsaped areas like retaining walls landscade edgeing etc etc with the 48 due to not haveing enough trim side.the 52 has plenty of trim side.
the 52 will hold hills good..the 52 hp is a great all around mower

I just got a Lazer Z hp 52/23 and love it. It out manuvers my Toro wb with velke any day of the week. BTW the 44 & 48 lazers have very little to no trim edge on there decks this is the reason I went with a 52.

I would go with the 52. It will do a larger lawn if you get them very fast but is about as big as I would want to put on 15k lawns if they are your average size.

I would say most yards are 8-10K

Thanks, Odin. I was JUST going to comment on that, as I was reading this thread, but then I saw YOUR reply. Good advice. I hope all has been well with you. I haven't seen you in awhile (but then I've been down this past week (updated the computer). ;)

Get the 52" good stability and isn't overkill(60") for residential prop.

What are your thoghts of the Lazer 52 with a 27hp over the Lazer HP 52 with a 23hp? I just wonder how much better is the Ultracut Deck of the Advantage Deck? If they could just give us a Lazer HP 52 with 27hp and a Ultracut Deck. I do small 1/4 to 1/3 acre residentials as well. I know the frame is bigger on the full size Lazer and I don't know how much trimming capability it has with a 52" deck.

There is no trim side on a FULL SIZE lazer 52" ultracut, Exmarks too busy making money to give us the ultracut on a baby lazer just yet.
BUT i hear its going to be soon or in 05:mad:
