It seems like it happens every year.You get some early phone calls for estimates go out and give the estimates and the customer signs up on the spot and your feeling really good then get home and check the voice mail and find out you just lost a couple of customers for varies reasons.This is what happened to me yesterday.I signed up two customers on the spot get home and listen to voice mail.
1.Canceled because the wife is quitting her job and they are trying to save money.
2.New tennants in a rental house are going to do it this year to save money on the rent.
3.Can't afford the regular maintenance anymore but will call if there is extra work to be done.
So at the end of the day your right back where you started and this doesn't count the ones who sold their houses over the winter or the PITA customers you drop on your own.
This happens to everyone.
There is always some turn over in our business no matter how hard you try, with the PITA customers, the I'll save money and do it myself, or whatever.
As time goes by I have found that you take the good with the bad. Normally I will add more good customers than I loose bad ones.
Its just the price of doing business. Drive on even harder to do your best and you will keep getting more accounts and make your business grow.

You have your good days, and you have your "why am I doing this?" days. It all evens out in some way or another, usually you lose a good account now and then, but replace it with 2-3 better accounts(usually).Hang in there, it's all good...

I'm not really worried because I have not sent out any advertising yet.I have 600 post cards going out tomorrow and 11000 flyers next week I know its the nature of the business.

research has shown over a 5-7 year period you will not have any of the customers you started with. (exceptions of course)

I have had this happen to. I come to expect it. I know we all take it personally, because this is our livelyhood, and we take pride in what we do. But customers will come and go over a period of time. Some will leave and come back. You cant take it personally. If you did it will drive you nuts. Sometimes it is a blessing in disguise, because usually the accounts you take on are more profitable than the ones that leave.
