Hey guys I go out tomorrow and look at a couple of pastures, they want me to seed with pasture seed and maybe fertilize. I know one is 10 acres(man that will take a while), no aerating just seeding and maybe some 10-10-10. Just for labor what do you charge and how do you go about charging for seed? Im just trying to make sure Im being fair. Thanks alot for the input!

I cant remember what the exact price was Im just looking I guess for an hourly rate for seeding! I dont want to price gouge these people, because theres alot of work to be done. But I also want to make a profit. I forget what the overseeding rate is!

I like it but wish I could have put it to more use this season.

What will you be using to spread the seed? I'm not really sure how long it would take but I have an idea using a ZTR with a front mount spreader...

Let's assume you will be applying 3-5lbs per 1000sf

10 acres is ~440000sf 440 x 4lbs = 1760lbs. of seed

1760 / 50lbs bag = 35 bags/4-5 bags per hour = 7-9 hours

The fertilizer will probably take half the time.. because of it's weight it will distibute faster and further.

Just a guestimate.... $4000-$4500

This is the best I can come up with. I hope someone with more experience will step in..

I have never priced a seed job by the hour. I know what it cost to seed a lawn per sq ft, so charge according to that. I guess others do the same. You have to know your cost before you even start to think about an estimate.
