As i was waiting for the school bus with my kids this am I picked up the flyer not only is this guy cutting lawns for 13.00 if you sign a contract with him he will give you a FREE spring clean up. What the heck is this guy doing. Now how are we supposed to make money when he is taking away my labor charge, This is the only way of making real money before the cutting season. Man am i p8ss3d

Well, if EVERYBODY used his services (which they won't) he would not be able to do them ALL, anyway. Like other's say, some people will always pay for quality (some will always look for the cheapest way out) I wouldn't worry about it. But I don't have kids to raise, or bills to pay (as far as house notes, equip. notes, ect.) Everything is paid in full. You'll be ok Mole.

Post his number or address. We'll get him to register here so he can learn that there is no way to make good money this way.

Im not really worried about the price per cut, Im just pi##ed about giving away the spring clean up. Losing out on the labor part I just don't know what this guy is thinking. Where I live all the homes are 190k and up. We can get a good buck around here so this guy has just trashed the market. Im not alone in this there are three outfits that cut in my neighborhood we all get along and we charge the same so no one gets hurt, same with snowplowing. If this guy comes here and puts a stink on our snowplowing next year he'll learn the hard way.

Ahhhh. . . the beauty of free enterprize, haha. We can't have it all in a free market economy, can we? Don't forget, though, that competition keeps the cost of your mowers, trimmers, trucks, trailers, signs, etc. lower too. As much as we hate the lowballer, we have to learn to deal with him. Sure makes us work harder, but thats ok. Be dilligent.

Lol. How does the competition that works for $13 a lawn keep lawn equipment prices down? Someone making that much can't afford the proper equipment in the first place, and is probably buying his stuff from the Home Depot. I haven't seen the price of any equipment going down ever, and certainly not because of scrubs. Same with trucks and gasoline. Equipment manufacturers don't lower prices because scrubs don't have enough money to pay for their equipment. All a guy like this does is lower potential customer's expectations of pricing in the area. After he goes outta business because he can't afford the proper equipment, and because he's making $5 an hour when all is said and done, the legit lcos who have the proper equipment and higher expenses have to come in and deal with the mess.

Guys like this aren't my competition. I don't want price shoppers or cheap customers anyway. They can have the cheap-os and slow payers and little old ladies that still think they can get Billy down the street to mow for $5 and a glass of milk.

We need to start a national society that anyone can sign up for as long as they meet certain requirements, and are a reputable business. Something like the pgms but cheap! That way all of these lowballers wouldn't be able to be a part of this society, then we could advertise hardcore that ALL good companies are a part of this society.

ALCA is somewhat of a society for the educated landscape contractor to belong to but I feel isn't advertised enough as to convince potential clients to hire them over a scrub...

$13 FREEKIN DOLLARS?????
Did I read that right????
I'd call him up for a look see of my property and choke the S#@t out of his dumb A$$.
Thats why potential customers get to the "Oh can't you do it for less" Attitude
And "Oh your a bit high priced" attitude.
Well I'm sure he won't last more that 2 weeks in this business, He ought to be broke by then just from the price of gas.

This guy will last a month; when his junky MTD push mowers wheels fall off, he won't be able to replace them, because of his limited intelligence.

$13.00 per yard HA,ha,ha.

Would have to know his idea of what a "spring clean-up" is. So he picks up some sticks, and get's a signed contract.
