no way, it would barely pull me slower than i can walk and I weigh 190 it would just be faster to walk..

No offense intended, but 270 lbs concentrated on 1 or 2 small tires might leave some nasty ruts. Just my opinion...

We have 12.5 Kawi on a 36" belt ,and a 17 kawi on a 48" belt, lots of uneven terrain and hills, jungle wheels sulkies, and ours do just fine.By the way, the lightest guy in our crew is 225lbs.We have no problems with rutting, either.

WHoa! Thanx bastalker--->Sorry, I thought it was a 36" deck, it seems already under powered w/ a 12HP on a 48" deck, let alone trying to ride a sulky even at 170lbs...Get a bigger mower / motor combo if you haven't already purchased this mower.....pay no attention to my previous post...I think I'm slowly going crazy waiting for spring!!

I run a single wheel velke on my Scag 48" belt drive with 15 Kohler.... no problems, Hills are OK too.....
HOWEVER.. I only weigh 160....
I would think it might be OK on level lawns.. but hills or tall/heavy growth and you probably will have a problem.

It will pull you around just fine. I had a 12 hp 48 Jacobson and it pulled me around for 6 years with no problems only thing is when its really wet out from rain or dew you will have problems with the belts slipping. I always kept a can of belt dressing in the truck the sticky kind.

Yes it will pull you just fine. On flat areas you will have no problems. On hills if it seems to be to much just walk it.

I have a 12.5 kawi on a belt drive and its pulled people your size and bigger.

I have a 14hp on my Ferris 48" hydro and I weigh 160lbs. The extra weight of the hyrdo and being a Ferris is about the differance in my weight from yours if not more and My Ferris rarely bogs down unless i'm going up a step incline from a stand still. If cutting and I enter a hill it doesn't bog down at all. I think you'll be ok but at times you may need to slow down at time or mow in 3rd gear but over all i think you'll be alright and if not at least you'll have the Sulky for your next mower!

Agree.

Same here. One of our older mowers is a JD 48" 12.5 Kawi Belt-drive, and it pulls a two wheel sit down sulky just fine.

Sure, make sure the belts are in good shape; nice and tight

yes the belt will pull you, I'm 230 and it pulls fine. The downside is that make sure the belts are constantly tight.

I clicked on your attachment before I looked at anything else and said to myself, " that picture has got to be from N.C. Sure enough, closed out the pic and saw that you are indeed from N.C. Funny how you can sense those things.:D

I have a Howard Price 36" gear drive with a two wheel Sulky. The engine is a Kaw 14.5 single piston. I weigh 230, and have no problem on this machine. It pulls hills fine, and cuts in deep or wet fine. I was a little worried about the traction, but found it to be fine. I'd buy this setup again.
