? on.13 line and cutting back liriope

I have one property with at least 40 mature liriope. Last year it took me forever to cut and bag these. I think somewhere I heard or read that using this thick .13 trimmer line would make it easier than gas hedge shears.(dont have to hold the plants up with the trimmer approach) Never used line this thick and before I go bore out the hole in the spool, I wanted to ask you guys if this approach is more efficient/effective?? thanks much

I use my shin and .95 string. Just did mine about a week ago here at the house, and I've already got about 4" of new growth. I cut it almost all the way down, from the top first, then the sides. I left no blades longer than one inch. Square string is the way to go.
