boy this is a dumb question, but if you are unlicensed to spray, and all you need to do is knock out some weeds in sidewalks,etc, why not a brine solution??? we can use some of the 200 tons we have left over from the snowless winter...

In most states it is illegal to control weeds commercially with a chemical (sodium chloride is a chemical) that doesn't have an EPA Registration Number. With or without a license.
You can use it on your own property. But watch for runoff that could damage non targetted salt sensitive plants or turf.
