A couple of questions concerning the 9000 series sharpener.
1. I have a Walker mower and one of the blades spins the opposite direction of most mower's blades. I assume that in order to sharpen the blade I will need to feed it into the sharpener from the opposite direction, i.e., the left side rather than the right. Will the 9000 accomodate this?
2. Has the redesign on the 9001 been released yet? If not, when will it be available?

To address the approach of the blade for LEFT HANDED or RIGHT HANDED blades look at the link below. All the way at the bottom you will find a CAD drawing of the blade approach. Please note that your view is a little restricted (by the grit guard) when doing LEFT HANDED BLADES.
The new vac grit guard is not quite finished yet, but it will be similar to the MAG-8000 grit guard (to give you a preview/idea).
We will definatly announce the new grit guard design here first on LAWNSITE.COM.

Thank you. That addresses my concern.
Any idea when the 9001 will released? I like the idea of a vacuum attachment and I'd hate to spend that much and not get one.... just because I ordered too early.

When i spoke of "the new grit guard" it was in reference to the MAG-9001. The grit guard is the only difference between a MAG-9000 and MAG-9001.

I understand the difference between the 2 models. That is why I prefer to purchase a 9001.... however, if it is not available because of a redesign then I need to decide whether I 1) wait for the redesign, 2)purchase the 9000 or 3) look elsewhere.
I prefer the 9001... when will it be available with the redesigned guard?

We are currently looking at making the vac grit guard standard, and only having one version of the MAG-9000. We are hoping for the end of April but it may get pushed into May.
The new design of vac grit guard is being designed to be interchangable with all previous MAG-9000 series sharpeners, so it will be available as a "replacement/accessory part"
So anyone purchasing a MAG-9000 will always have the ablity to add the vac grit guard to any MAG-9000.

So, from what you have said there should not be any reason to not purchase the 9000 now and upgrade the grit guard later when it is available.... unless the price of the grit guard is substantually higher seperately as an upgrade. Do you have any info on what the price will be ? Will it be similar to the delta price betwe.en the 9000 and the 9001?
I already have the balancer and I am extremely happy with it. Great piece of engineering.

Please note this is just a rough range of the price at this time. We hope to achieve a price range of $40-$60 for the vac grit guard.
Thank you for the complements on our balancer, we greatly appreciate the kind words.
