I know someone that runs one without a velke and I'd like to know if it's possible to keep up with the max speed without one? I don't think he's running, but I don't think he throws the throttle up into high gear. I'm just trying to figure out if he's wasting time because he doesn't have a velke. What kind of percentage would he be running at without one, for efficiency sake? Time is money in this business and there's no room for slow pokes. That's why I got myself a rider.

justmjc,
Most of the walk behinds have a top speed of around 6.2 mph.
Different lawns will dictate different speeds based on growth, complexity of the landscaping (more stuff to mow around) and often customer perception.
Full speed isn't a run but it's not a walk either. You’re moving well above what I'd call a comfortable walking speed if you open it all the way up.
Thanks
Terry
