I have 2.6 acres of sloping ground to mow and I am deciding on a commercial walk-behind mower. In the past we have mowed it with a JD LT166 (with chains) and a 21" JD self-propelled walk behind.

What do you think of the Cub Cadet HFF1748 and the Exmark Turf Tracer Hydro 17 hp, both would be with 48" decks.

Which would be better in terms of reliability and ease of use?

I stopped looking at Cubs when they sold out, and never considered one before that, but it doesn't look too bad.
People seem to like them (that own them) The ones that visit this forum, anyway.

welcome to the forum walk behind.

Go with the exmark if your looking for quality of cut and durability. Go with the cub if you want a lower price and no resale

On slopes are they steep? If they are get a hydro drive. As far as brand I have a Lesco it is a good sturdy mower at a verry good price.I have used many mowers in 14 years Lesco,Scagg,Exmark and Ferris are some of the best. The best engins are Kawasaki. Hope it helped you.

Advise I wish I had taken years ago (although I only have a few that are steep) Deff. go with a hydro if you have hills, or stay on the breaks (or free wheel to the bottom) Good advise Liberty!
(I like KAW myself!)

eXmark, Lesco, Deere, Hustler, Cub, Great Dane, Walker.. They are all good mowers.. Pick your mower based on dealer support and how you feel about dealing with them..

I have the Exmark TTHP 17hp 48" and love it. Another very good mower you may want to consider is the Gravely Pro H. It is a very good mower at a much cheaper price.

I had a cub Z-turn and it would not hold a hill at all. I finally sold it with only 50 hrs on it. I then purchased a hustler Z and love it.

Yep, what Quality says.

Dealer support is the biggest, find a dealer that will be there after the sale.
