crash course on concrete sidewalks

Can someone give me a concrete sidewalk 101 course.

I know how to set forms, I know how to compact the sub-earth. How deep should the concrete be? How do I calculate how much I'll need? How far apart do I space my expansion joints (from each other)? Do I need to use any reinforcement for a sidewalk? Any finishing advice (brushing?). I've heard that siding works good for forms, is this true? Any type of concrete I should purchase for this? I know its alot to ask.
