View Full Version : how do you do it

I just recently finished building a raised flower bed to go around a buisness sign. I used top soil and peat moss to raise the bed to about 4 inches high in the middle and gently sloped it down on all sides. I dug out a small ring around the bed where the bed met the turf, so the soil would not wash down into the turf. I'm just wondering how you guys would do this. what would you use for soil and what if anything would you use to catch any soil from coming into the turf.
Thanks for the help josh

Pulverized top soil and metal edging.

When I done local business sign, I went with top soil/ compost mix to help flowers. For a border I went with concrete edging . They really liked the job I done.

One row of fancy bolders or one row of natural cut wall stone. looks nice.

If it's only four inches above the existing grade in the center, I don't think you'll have to much to worry about. A little mulch should help with any erosion problems, and just maintain the edge where the grass meets the mulch.
