guys need a little help here on a 4.2 6 cylinder engine . I can't find the oil dipstick the tube is missing . Where does it attach to the block? I know its some where on the right side, drivers side of engine block. cant drive this truck till i know it has oil. Thank you

Ok found it . Problem is there is no tube just a cable thats dangling out the hole and its stuck in there. how do i get it out . if I pull on it might snap . do i twist and turn it or what. Thanks agin

its a 1997 f150 V6 4.2 Litre with air cond.

My 97 f150 has the 4.6l v-8 and the dip stick is a cable with an attachment on the end that has the marks on it. I would assume you need to wiggle the cable to center the attachment with the hole in the block to get it to release. After you get it out, then you can put a new tube in that should hold the cable centered so you can pull it out to check it.
