Lesco Viper Mower Owner Help!

I just purchased a new 2000 Lesco Viper Mower, it has an hour meter etc... Is it ok to take of the battery during the winter? Or will it erase my hour meter?

Reverse the polarity to the hour meter in the spring and you will have a new mower by the end of next year.
