I'd like to get an idea of the years/levels of education of everyone. Have you gone to college? If yes, was it in a green related degree like horticulture? Also, any graduate degrees etc.
I myself am finishing high school but plan to get a business degree and maybe a horticulture masters.

I myself have a G.E.D education. Self educated in field but have taken turf management courses, seminars and other helpful educational programs. I am enrolled in a landscape design course starting in 4 weeks that will give me a degree in landscape design and constuction.

Little addendum, how many chose this as a career and did not fall into it later in life?

I have a degree in Accounting. Currently working with a CPA firm and running the business. You decide which one I'd rather be doing (clue: It doesn't involve doing taxes) :)

I am going to Rutgers for a week in Feb. 2001 for a course in Athletic Field Management. Very pricey vs. PSU courses.
I have a relative in the area so I save the cost of a motel room or even worse trying to commute.

I have a B.S. in Criminal Justice. If I had only knew what I wanted to do with my life I would've gone for horticulture, but being young and dumb I went to college to please family. Although looking back it was worth it as I believe it has helped culture me and enable me to better communicate with my educated customers.
Now if I could only get the balls to stop working for the MAN I'd be all set. Actually...the plan is for this spring!

I have a bachelors degree in Biology and Secondary Education. A minor in General Science. I have a masters degree in Education. Currently in my 7th year of teaching high school. Actually, my students are taking a test over "mitosis" right now as I am replying to your post!!!! However, I think I have learned more in the last 5 days on this site than I ever did in the 6 years of post-secondary education.

I have a six-year bachelor's degree in public relations (had too much fun, please don't ask), ten-plus years of customer service experience and three years of telecommunications "work-related" experience I do presently.
I am much like Scraper in that I'm going to start this spring. Part-time legitimate LMO and full-time corporate sit-on-my-butt-get-fat until the biz takes-off.
I guess it's better late than never... I do know this: I'll be loving every minute of the LMO!

I will have a B.A. in Political Science in Jan2002. After that though I will probably take some planting classes or landscape construction seminars.

I have a Bachelor of Fine Art in Art & Photography, a number of courses in photoshop & mac diagnostics; and 6 courses in Turfgrass Science at Rutgers University.
Lawrence--you should like Rutgers. They are overpriced, but I had a good time, learned alot, and they feed you a decent lunch.

I have a Bachelor Of Business Administration with emphasis in marketing from the Uof Iowa. Started my company out of school 6 years ago and feel my education is an invaluable resource that I tap everyday. I do not however have formal training in horticulture. I have spent many long winters learning as much as possible to get comfortable in this industry. If you have an opportunity to receive a formal education in this field and combine it with a sprinkling of business courses you will be ahead of the game.
