I'm working with a 6x4 UV about 3yrs old and 1700 hours on it. Previous maintenance on this unit appears to be lacking.

Almost every time when you engage into fwd or rev it will grind into gear and sometimes kill the motor. On rare occasions it will slip right into gear without problem.

The manual refers me to the dealer. Tomorrow I'm going to look for the obvious. I'm thinking somethings out of adjustment or the synchronizer is bad??

If any of you "real" mechanics have some input I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Sounds like the idle speed is too fast. Try slowing down the rpm at idle and see if that helps. There should be a adjustment on the carb to do that.

That was one of the many problems I had with both of mine. Glad I sold them.

The idle speed is almost too low that it sometimes dies while trying to engage to gear??
It also runs rich but, i haven't made any adjustments to the carb yet.

THE big problem was it was out of gear oil!! Poured almost 2qts in it. Didn't get to run it much after refilling but felt a whole lot better.
